Not true. My brother was able to use his gift card on the second chance for the non-attendee Dr. Doom archive set plus a stand.
Right, The list of "qualifying" products does include both regular and second chance in stock items, but it does not include all items from either category. For example, I just tried to redeem my recent DVD gift card on the Metaluna Mutant figure (second chance, in stock), and I received this message:

Oops!

The code, 'XXX-XXXXX-XXXXXXXX', does not apply to your order. Your order does not contain qualifying products. Please try again.

I've gone over the list of qualifying products, and there is nothing in there that I want (even though there are several in stock items at Sideshow that I would want), so I guess my card is useless right now. Maybe the list will change before the card expires, but who knows?

Well, SS can't help if someone does or doesn't collect stuff other than SW. It's meant as a goodwill gesture I'm sure to say thanks for buying all 3. Any gift card is the same its just that SS stuff is so popular.

I respect your opinion, jlcmsu, but I feel that you are somewhat misguided. I am speaking in a broad, general sense. I like other lines besides Star Wars. I can hopefully apply the card to the purchase of a regular edition terminator figure if I choose to buy the 3 Endor Rebels. However, I consider most people that are interested in the Combo Deal to be hardcore Star Wars collectors, many of whom only collect Star Wars stuff. I think that I bring up a valid point that a large majority of those collectors will be left out in the cold with the gift card if they can't apply it to pre-order purchases. If I get a gift card for Target, I can use it whenever I want for anything that I see at Target when I'm there and they don't sell out their stock before it hits the floor. Sideshow's Priority Pre-Order program makes this impossible for their items that are most desireable to customers. I know that Sideshow didn't have to offer anything to it's customers, but they must have felt that they had to do something by providing this offer to customers.

To me it doesn't seem to be much of a combo deal because that usually means you get a certain percentage off of the price. For example, if I purchase one figure out of a set at Cornerstorecomics I have to pay a higher price, and if I buy the whole set I recieve a certain percentage of the price. All I am saying is that I understand why people might not be all that happy with the gift card situation, and I don't think they should be called ungrateful or disrespectful to Sideshow because they have an opinion about the Combo Deal. You're entitled to your opinion about the deal and how great it is, and they are entitled to their opinion and how much they don't like it.

Funny, I tried for the Mutant too. :lol

Off topic, but I thought Sideshow was sold out of stands... or at least they show as backordered? Can you still buy them?

You got it. The Three Stooges. That's what these three clowns in the Endor combo remind me of.

For me, the gift card will be 99% useless as the items I collect all sell out long before arriving in stock. For me, the main draw of the combo pack is the fact that they will ship first. I guess the lower shipping cost is nice, but the main thing for me is not having to wait to get them individually. Sideshow could add on a priority shipping surcharge to every item they sell guaranteeing you early shipping and I would pay it without a second thought. So because of my impatience, I am excited about this news. I'm still kind of debating on whether I actually need all three, but based on my previous experience I can't imagine that debate continuing for long once they go up for preorder...

I don't think misguided is the right word but ok. I would assume that SW fans collect more than just SW or at least SS SW fans anyways. I'm not saying it's a perfect option but they didn't have to do anything. They are trying to reward their customers with something which is more than I can say for most companies I collect or deal with.

Well, they are saving on shipping which will save them like $8 bucks a figure. So you're saving like $24 bucks. It's not having an opinion that is being ungrateful or disrespectful but how they are saying it.

In 1995 I was in a fast food restaurant and added up the price of all the items within the combo, and buying them individually would have saved me three cents, so the combo was actually more expensive.

And just yesterday I was at In-N-Out and the combo pricing was the same. It wasn't meant to save you money, just make it easier to order.

Anyway, I enjoyed ordering items at SDCC and sitting out the next few priority preorders. Another nice thing about this package is that you don't have to come back twice next month and battle the server.

You had better hope that this approach is successful, so that when the eventual white ROTS clone, blue 501st clone and red Shock Trooper clone three-pack goes up for order, they repeat this deal. I have a feeling there will be fewer complaints on that day! Imagine getting two of them but missing out on the priority preorder for the last one. It will be a stress reducer when hotter military figures can be secured this easily.

Heck yeah! I loved not having to worry about the PPO that made life a lot easier.

No kidding! I want those badly and if SS can make it easier on me that gets a tip of the cap from this collector. :D

Has anyone considered that Lucas Licensing Merchandising, etc. may have had some input into these figures being done next?

Yeah, I considered it... for about .5 seconds. Then I realized that if LFL Licensing dictated which characters got made into figures in this line they would have forced SSC to make Vader, Stormtroopers, etc by now whether they were ready or not.

The choice to make Endor Rebel Soldiers at this time was all Sideshow's.

You don't know that.

That's cool. I will say though I do have a budget. I'm a first year teacher trying to save for a new car and my very own house. I am paying other bills though and helping out with bills here at my folks place. I don't want them to raise prices either for the record.

The guy who is always bashing those of us who can't afford for SS to keep raising prices still lives at home with his mommy and daddy.

Now it all makes sense.

Priceless.
