what bad
don't leave us hanging.
There are just a few things with a $450 1/4 scale replica that I thought shouldn't be.
1) I knew the base was gonna be crap but, sheesh, is it ever. Not only in design but construction. Super thin plastics were used. A very cheezy aluminum type metal. Big, ugly screws that are a different sheen than the aluminum and an awful looking metal "BATMAN" decal on the front which is already starting to peel off.
2) Probably not a problem for many but the magnetic cape clips drive me nuts. I can't touch the figure without them shifting, twisting or completely coming off altogether. And right outa the box the magnet had broken off the clip. I had to glue it back in.
3) The choice of gauntlet material. Instead of a semi rigid plastic like HT's 1:6 version EB chose to go with a soft vinyl.
One of the fins on mine is already warped. And there's no pushing it back and it holding shape. Not with this material.
4) The cowls are sculpted in the same cheap soft vinyl. Reminds me of the kiddy toys I used to have as a child. One of my other cowls is hoplessly warped at the back due to this material choice.
5) And back to the cowls. The forward stare I have on display now is a beautiful matte/satin finish. Really no shine on it to speak of and it's gorgeous. The other two are near gloss compared to it. Again, I believe it's due to the poor material choice.
6) Some of the weapons and accesories again feel like they're molded in soft vinyl. They just don't have the clean finish and nice paint apps that something in this scale should have.
Overall the figure is impressive on display but there are a lot of little things, some I mentioned and some I didn't, that may be being overlooked due to the newness of the scale that would have been immediately noticed in the more familiar 1:6 scale.
I'm glad I got this one and it'll be fun photographing it but I;m not as impressed overall as some have been.
