These dolls are as much representations of the actresses themselves as they are sexed up representations of women. As a representation of the actress, it could be argued that these dolls pay homage to their acting talent, and their ability to play any part well, and interestingly also as sexy roles among them.
As Hugh Hefner has said, women have always been *** objects, otherwise, the human race would not exist.
These dolls are not JUST *** objects, and frankly, due to the scale of these dolls, I find it difficult to believe that anyone could actually use them for that purpose.
Certainly, sexy statues are a big part of the marketplace, as sexy art has had a big part in art from the very beginning, going back thousands of years. This is not going to change.
To a large degree, action figures are about fantasy, which is to imagine a state of being that is more enjoyable than the one you find yourself in. It is an escape to take your mind off the fact that you are lacking a degree of fulfillment in the "real world", and so long as some people lack beautiful mates in real life, they will appreciate sexy statues and action figures, especially when they already collect other types of action figures. I doubt that these action figures will ever become less marketable unless people themselves can more easily find fulfillment in the real world so that these sexy statues are perceived as extraneous and unnecessary.
These sexy action figures are a symptom of a deeper problem, and it is pointless to attempt to manage only the symptoms of a problem if you really want it to go away. Once people find more fulfillment in the relationship area, of course the importance of these statues will fade, but isn't it a little uncompassionate to campaign against the very existence of such things that serve a pragmatic emotional function?
If you don't like them, don't have them in your house. Don't buy them. It's not like they are cigarettes that cause cancer in other people who want nothing to do with them because of the second hand smoke they cause.
These things are just action figures or statues. Ultimately, they don't have any reflection upon the women they represent nor women in general, and as such, really are not demeaning to women in any way.
They only reflect the natures of those who make them and buy them and appreciate them.
The reality is, if you think they accurately represent the true worth of women, you are wrong. Whether you see them as *** objects to be appreciated or disgusted by, the bottom line, is that they are just pretty things to looks at, just like every other work of art.
The meaning of these is entirely interpreted by the perceptions of the beholder.
Honestly I don't see a big deal if these figures are part of a more diverse collection that includes Star Wars and Marvel figures, for example. That said, if the entirety of someones collection were made up of things like this, that should raise an eyebrow or two.
If the price is right, and they are pretty enough, and especially if they are of actresses I like I might be getting a few to go along with the rest of my figure and statue collection.
This thread reeks of a 'holier than thou' attitude, overt political correctness, and an excessively judgmental demeanor.
The very fact that some of you see these as '*** dolls' exactly reflect your 'own' attitude towards depiction of women or whatever. Get over it. These are just 1/6th base bodies with headsculpts. Period.
I asked my friend I went to High School with, and has now been living in Japan the past 6 years teaching english if he ever heard of this Nurse girl, he and no one he knows has.
Thats the point, these are the same people who put underage women's panties in vending machines, it's just obvious what the intention of these are and it's filthy and stupid.
I'm going to buy one and use it as an ____ plug for my wife just to prove a point that these are indeed meant for sexual purposes.
I don't understand why people are making these out to be more than what it is and that's a 1/6 scale figure....plain and simple!Bill doesn't speak English perfectly and add in the fact that he comes from a country where they read from left to right then of course his joke is going to come off a bit dark and somewhat offensive.Other countries aren't as hung up on *** as in the U.S so that's why this isn't looked at as the next blow-up jack-off doll!Yeah the title is stupid but the same could be said of Hot Toys Hot Angels line too!SORRY if anyone takes this to heart but i just don't get what the big deal is.I for one can't wait to see a Kate Beckinsale/Selene or a Linda Hamilton/Sarah Connor from Enterbay.Guys get your minds out of the gutter for christ sakes these are just 12'' figures!Have a NICE day!^_^
Deckard every man has the right to slap his ____ on a plastic forehead.
Because thats not whats happening, They are calling the line Girlfrield Beauty Doll, not Underworld or Terminator 2, and they aren't giving us a celebrity or someone people know and look upto, it's a no name person in a sexy nurse outfit.
Names do make a differance, calling this line Girlfriend is pretty obvious what they are intending, when they reveal the realistic life like nipples and vagajay there will be no more room for arguement.
I buy figures because I admire or look upto the character, everyman wants to be John McClane, fighting terrorists, jumping off exploding roofs, getting the girl so it makes sense you'd want that figure.
