These dolls are as much representations of the actresses themselves as they are sexed up representations of women. As a representation of the actress, it could be argued that these dolls pay homage to their acting talent, and their ability to play any part well, and interestingly also as sexy roles among them.

As Hugh Hefner has said, women have always been *** objects, otherwise, the human race would not exist.

These dolls are not JUST *** objects, and frankly, due to the scale of these dolls, I find it difficult to believe that anyone could actually use them for that purpose.
Certainly, sexy statues are a big part of the marketplace, as sexy art has had a big part in art from the very beginning, going back thousands of years. This is not going to change.

To a large degree, action figures are about fantasy, which is to imagine a state of being that is more enjoyable than the one you find yourself in. It is an escape to take your mind off the fact that you are lacking a degree of fulfillment in the "real world", and so long as some people lack beautiful mates in real life, they will appreciate sexy statues and action figures, especially when they already collect other types of action figures. I doubt that these action figures will ever become less marketable unless people themselves can more easily find fulfillment in the real world so that these sexy statues are perceived as extraneous and unnecessary.

These sexy action figures are a symptom of a deeper problem, and it is pointless to attempt to manage only the symptoms of a problem if you really want it to go away. Once people find more fulfillment in the relationship area, of course the importance of these statues will fade, but isn't it a little uncompassionate to campaign against the very existence of such things that serve a pragmatic emotional function?

If you don't like them, don't have them in your house. Don't buy them. It's not like they are cigarettes that cause cancer in other people who want nothing to do with them because of the second hand smoke they cause.

These things are just action figures or statues. Ultimately, they don't have any reflection upon the women they represent nor women in general, and as such, really are not demeaning to women in any way.
They only reflect the natures of those who make them and buy them and appreciate them.

The reality is, if you think they accurately represent the true worth of women, you are wrong. Whether you see them as *** objects to be appreciated or disgusted by, the bottom line, is that they are just pretty things to looks at, just like every other work of art.
The meaning of these is entirely interpreted by the perceptions of the beholder.

Honestly I don't see a big deal if these figures are part of a more diverse collection that includes Star Wars and Marvel figures, for example. That said, if the entirety of someones collection were made up of things like this, that should raise an eyebrow or two.

If the price is right, and they are pretty enough, and especially if they are of actresses I like I might be getting a few to go along with the rest of my figure and statue collection.

This thread reeks of a 'holier than thou' attitude, overt political correctness, and an excessively judgmental demeanor.

The very fact that some of you see these as '*** dolls' exactly reflect your 'own' attitude towards depiction of women or whatever. Get over it. These are just 1/6th base bodies with headsculpts. Period.

:exactly::goodpost: You guys took the words right out my mouth. This is crazy that we are still talking about this figures being *** objects for supposedly "lonely" men??? :thud: It's a mistranslation happens all the time. Yes the title sounds weird but you need stop reading into it...

These figures are 1/6 scale anyone thinking or using them as *** objects might just have a tiny problem :monkey2

Don't like it because of the title instead of what it really is a "1/6 figure" move on don't buy it. Like I said before if someone is using these figure for something other then for display I don't care, and we shouldn't be flooding this thread with nonsense.

Classic case of "hate that I want it but don't want it, so gonna get all political and self righteous" (much like what we saw with the annoucement of the AVP Samurai Predator).

Seems like the haters are people who uncounsciously or counsiously feel interested in the figure, but can't justify getting it for reason A (don't know ____ about the character), B (there is this wierd sense of "collectors code" that people try to associate to to make them seem more "normal" when in fact, we are a bunch of "nerds"), or C (some wierd hypocritical standard that believes that somehow super women and all those "famous" female comic book super heros in skimpy tights and massive knockers are more than exaggerated *** symbols, while as a sexy nurse character from a obviously funny "GirlFriend" line, based on a random "nobody" is a despicable concept).

Why can't haters be like most of us who see this for what it is? I mean, I am not interested because I don't know who the character is and I will most likely never see any of her movies unless somehow she becomes an international superstar. Therefore, I simply move along instead of get all self righteous and start hating for no reason.

Just buy if you like and if not then don't. We are men and we know our main intentions. So why bash our own race and fatigue our brains. At the end we are not buying living females and displaying them on our shelves. :monkey1

Argue all you want but these are the facts.

EB called the line the Girlfriend Beauty Doll collection. Thats not a simple miscommunication in language. They said very plainly, if you don't have a girlfriend for Valentines day these are perfect for you, thats pretty straightforward.

And if it is an error in wording, which it isn't, shame on them anyway, they are marketing these internationally and if they want to be taken seriously then butchering another language and presenting a joke of a product where you flagship figure/character is a no name nobody some asian guy just really wants to *** to then you've already failed in the product and the marketing.

I asked my friend I went to High School with, and has now been living in Japan the past 6 years teaching english if he ever heard of this Nurse girl, he and no one he knows has. She is not some huge well known Asian even. It honestly feels like some guy just got carried away trying to get laid and made a stupid promise and now were getting this line.

On top of that you have real women already coming in here and weighing in outright telling you owning one of these is going to be detrimental to your chances of getting a real woman. The fact is this is just sad.

Furthermore as a kid, your dad probably bought you a 12" GI JOE doll at some point. What do you think he would have done if you came to him with Balerina Barbie and said "I want this one." Names do make a differance, calling this line Girlfriend is pretty obvious what they are intending, when they reveal the realistic life like nipples and vagajay there will be no more room for arguement.

It's Chinglish!!!
why can't people get over it, I don't understand all theses pages of detailed posts.
This is nothing compared to all the stuff to what is available in Japan.
She won't be popular in Japan as she's more popular in HK/China/Taiwan

Thats the point, these are the same people who put underage women's panties in vending machines, it's just obvious what the intention of these are and it's filthy and stupid. I'm not confused by why some of the desperate people around here want this thing, just find it funny people are trying to defend them as something more innocent. They aren't.

On the other hand, if your friend had been living in HK, China or Taiwan, perhaps he would have.

No they are not the same people. Those vending machines are reputedly in Japan, and even there their existence or proliferance is either exaggerated or a myth.

I don't understand why people are making these out to be more than what it is and that's a 1/6 scale figure....plain and simple!Bill doesn't speak English perfectly and add in the fact that he comes from a country where they read from left to right then of course his joke is going to come off a bit dark and somewhat offensive.Other countries aren't as hung up on *** as in the U.S so that's why this isn't looked at as the next blow-up jack-off doll!Yeah the title is stupid but the same could be said of Hot Toys Hot Angels line too!SORRY if anyone takes this to heart but i just don't get what the big deal is.I for one can't wait to see a Kate Beckinsale/Selene or a Linda Hamilton/Sarah Connor from Enterbay.Guys get your minds out of the gutter for christ sakes these are just 12'' figures!Have a NICE day!^_^

Because thats not whats happening, They are calling the line Girlfrield Beauty Doll, not Underworld or Terminator 2, and they aren't giving us a celebrity or someone people know and look upto, it's a no name person in a sexy nurse outfit. I buy figures because I admire or look upto the character, everyman wants to be John McClane, fighting terrorists, jumping off exploding roofs, getting the girl so it makes sense you'd want that figure. Girls can even look upto Scarjo in Iron Man, shes a hero with badass moves that can take care of herself. So why do you want a random sexy nurse doll in your room? You look upto and aspire to wear a sexy nurse costume?

They also announced it on Valentines Day and said if you don't have a girlfriend these are perfect for you. Regardless of if they were trying to make a joke, the joke is on them.

If you really don't understand the importance of marketing your products properly you know nothing about buissness. Theres a reason the majority of the thread is laughing about how stupid this is and that shouldnt be the goal of a company trying to make money.

Honestly the most fitting thing to say seems to be "Who pays for ****?"

Whats even worse is this will no doubt be $300. Talking action Jack Sparrow is like $400.

For $300 you can find a real asian to dress up like a Sexy Nurse and do alot more then this doll will.

They already announced that the actress Emmy Rossum (Shameless, Dragonball Evolution) will be in the line, it says that on the first page. She's not a huge name but from that it seems reasonable to expect other actresses like Beckinsale are possible.

Names do make a differance, calling this line Girlfriend is pretty obvious what they are intending, when they reveal the realistic life like nipples and vagajay there will be no more room for arguement.

Yeah... I'm sure when they got the OK for Rossum she also signed off on a representation of her genitals. Maybe that seems likely in 'creepy man land,' where you apparently live...

That there perfectly sums up your issue. Not to insult you, but that's an incredibly childish/immature motive for buying an action figure. To me it's terribly sad that an adult is buying a figure and having thoughts like, 'This guys is good, he gets the girls.' If you're motivated by weird thoughts like that, I can completely understand now why you'd object to a figure like this.
