I'm not longer impulse buying from another 3rd party if Mars has plans on making the same figure. I don't care about the wait, at least I know I'm not getting burned like I did with Eternal.
u gonna wait like 3 years :D Thats not for me
Im gonna modify Eternal and make it look a lot better

Haven’t got it in hand yet, but I’m thinking I would like to lightly de-pink the head sculpt. What would be best for an amateur: dry-brush some white and grey or invest in a cheap airbrush from Amazon?

I’d recommend brushing for an amateur- especially if you’ve never airbrushed before.

It would be great for applying a flat base coat but you’d then have to repaint the entire head. It would take far more finesse to subtly lighten an already painted sculpt (even though this thing barely counts as being painted.)

Yeah, I'm not a strong enough painter to do a full repaint -- despite the relatively unnatural color to his skin -- but the gray-washes should go a long ways to solving the problem from a distance.

I'm still leaning toward making my Eternal Penguin a poster style Penguin if any of you saw my back-and-forth with Nick D. His face on that poster is even more white so even easier to achieve.

Assuming Mars will be giving us a two-pack with Sewer Penguin and Mayor Penguin to totally obliterate this competition, I'll at least have a totally unique Penguin that might keep it from ending its life in the closet.

I had the film on the other night and there is a bit of pink in his face (not to the same level as this figure).

Like you say Wor-Gar the promo images and production shots a lot of the time give him an almost Joker white face which really distorts how he looks in the film.

He is more a light grey/pink mix.

My painting has always been model cars and Star Wars ships so can do fine details and grime/lived in effects on those. This would be my first face painting so a bit different but am also thinking of a light grey wash on him to just tone the pink down.

No, he's definitely not white faced -- like Joker -- he has a weird pink almost purple tint; very purple around the eyes. He's got color but he's far from healthy looking.

I'm guessing the simple gray wash will bring him to an acceptable coloring.

I do like the stark almost black-and-white feel of the poster art though.

Me too - it is classic look.

You do see some customs go with a too white face/ dark almost black around the eyes which really doesn't look right either.

Just spray the head with some dullcoat first so the paint washes will have something to grab onto.

One concern I have with a full repaint is accidentally cracking the paint because of how soft and squishy the silicone head is...

Agree with you

Well just paid my invoice from Kit. I'll probably be getting this and the InArt Gandalf around the same time so Penguin here will probably take a back seat for a bit while soak up Middle Earths Mithrandir.

But my plan is to, based on what I've seen from pics and the video, I'll be shaving off all the stock hair. Giving Copplepot a gray wash. Maybe some added details if need be and Rehairing with black tibetan lambs fur.

Add padding to the body if possible or if I just need to futz with it. Either way I'm excited to get my hands on him and see what I can do. It's not ideal to have to mod these things, but I tend to end up doing mods to pretty much everything in the collection so nothing really new there.

It was bitter sweet paying that invoice, but I have a suspicion that even out of the box he'll be quite effective once he's on display.

Seems to be a new body type as well. The only one like it that came to mind was the Worldbox AT018:

Penguin is shorter than the AT018 judging by the line up photo, and probably fatter, so there's value in the body considering the Worldbox costs over £50.

Line up spoilered because they all have their plastic winkies out. :lol
