Ouch! That's a lot of money to pay for a HT 12-inch figure! :horror :horror :horror

Looking at the figures you posted regarding the VAT, I simply cannot comprehend how FedEx computes the VAT for the Wolverine and Mystique Comiquette. I thought the VAT is a percentage of the product cost. So why are you asked to pay more VAT for the Wolverine when its cost is evidently less than the Mystique Comiquette?
I think it has something to do with the duty rate. These items are from a different taric category, therefore it's supposed to be a different %. But there's a lot of confusion on this. The codes are clear, but it seems that custom have an own way of interpretation of what's a toy, a statue, etc. .

What is worse, I had to pay $18 in taxes on a replacement $70 figure that was sent 'free of charge'. I had of course already paid taxes on the first shipment as well.

I've been trying to get my money back from either Fed-Ex or Customs without any luck. They have the right to charge you over the value of the item, not what you paid for it. Sideshow marks everything for their true value with Fed-Ex, I assume for insurance purposes. So that's the value Fed-EX uses to determine taxes and import fees.
Looks like we are entitled to replacemets free of charge... plus all arising consequences! :lol I'm afraid the Sideshow reward points program is going to get a different flavor too, after FedEx delivered the 'reward' to the loyal customer. Wow... we are really getting the full treatment!

If it wasn't clear enough already, the picture is getting clearer every day! :lol

Bye bye Sideshow! Good, must have LOTR dioramas from UK dealers only now for me. No must have exclusives please!

When's the last time Sideshow responded in this thread?

Any UK'ers still sticking to their Iron Man Battle Damage Exclusive's knowing all these problems between FedEx handling botched up packages and customs fees etc?...

$47.47 shipping for a Bowen Hulk big thanks for the saving Sideshow only used to pay $28 for PF's :lol

I wrote to Sideshow's CS asking why shipping for Donatello is $63.36 and The Evil Queen is $38 and this is the reply...

As you will find, we have been able to negotiate better shipping rates for some of our larger and more expensive items.

:lol :banghead

Sideshow sent an email yesterday for collectables with damaged boxes 'for those that arn't bothered by the state of the packaging' at a cheaper price. So in their own words they are admitting that damaged boxes lessens the resale value, I'd send all the smashed boxes back to Sideshow.

My Hulk came today really happy with how fast it came and the box was 100% No fees they didn't call or email so they will be in the post soon no doubt.

Not happy with extra fees but so far so good on service, i'm 1 for 1. :lol

Why the hell do they choose to go with FedEx then? they may as well be selling shoddy goods as thats the state it arrives when FedEx has had their grubby hands on them.

No way would I pay that shipping and taxes on top. I get mine sent priority shipping from a dealer at the same price with no tax or fees added on.

I guess i have to because i REALLY want the Excl. Donatello. It's lame though.

They replied just now after i wrote and asked the same question again...

It all depends on the Dim Weight of the package. What it all comes down to is the shipping box and the weight of the box. Please also note that we have been able to negotiate better rates for some of our heavier, larger packed items so you will also see in some instances that some of your larger items will actually be less expensive to ship.

So in their own words they are admitting that damaged boxes lessens the resale value.

Damaged boxes DO lessen the resale or retail value of a piece, and anybody receiving a damaged box should contact Sideshow and request an appropriate partial refund. They can claim with Fedex to recover the deficit. There's absolutely no reason why anybody should suffer damaged product - even if it's only the box - and not seek some compensation for it. If Sideshow and Fedex can't collaborate effectively to ensure your merchandise reaches you in pristine shape then it's their problem as vendors, not yours as customer.

Business 101: keep your customers happy.

My mates 1:2 endo statue from SS arrived today. The outerbox is an absolute mess. The driver carried it our upside down because the bottom flaps were ripped clean off. This is disgusting. He is contacting SS to ask for a partial refund as there is no way he could sell this again if he wanted to. Good job he didn't get 1:2 iron man. That would have been in pieces getting to the UK.

That sucks! when i got mine from them it was brought to me by parcelforce and was in top condtion, glad fedex didn't bring mine now.

Here is the e-mail we composed to sideshow. Wonder if we'll hear anything.

"Hello

I recieved my 1:2 endoskeleton today which is very nice and the statue itself is fine. However I am very unhappy with Sideshow using Fedex as thier delivery company because the shipping box it arrived in was damaged beyond belief. The product box is also in a less than satisfactory state aswell.I consider the box to be part of the product and I was wondering if there is anyway I could get a partial refund because I will not be able to sell this statue and I shall also struggle if I need to move house. I have seen many complaints and photographic evidence of boxes arrivng to the UK in a bad way by Fedex. Many people including myself are not impressed with your decision to cose down the EU Warehouse and use Fedex as your shipping company because the fees are higher and they don't take enough care with these valuable items.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards "
