That's why you go to sounds and set mail to none... So it doesn't play sound.
Alright now I have no noise and no vibration selected and its still dinging.
My turn to ask a question / for help:
My GF's iPhone 5 is asking for a password to listen to her voicemail.
She had an iPhone 4 previously, and never set it up to have a voicemail before, so we both can't figure out why it's asking for one now. We've tried everything we could think, the last four digits of her number, the last four of the account holders Social Security number, the passcode to unlock her phone...nothing works.

yeah, that's the easiest thing. Or if you have an online account, you might be able to reset it on the computer
