Dear God this movie was amazing. I was not expecting it to be that good. It's heavy dialogue enhances its brilliance. If you're unsure if you want to see this, stop it and just go. The actress, Alicia, that plays Ava (the machine) was engaging. All of her mannerisms were just beautiful to watch. She was perfect for the role.

I loved the ending as well.

Didn't play to the viewers wants/needs for an outcome. Completely stayed realistic and true to a machine. So satisfying.

I looked at it a different way
I think in the beginning she Was starting to care for Caleb but I think during session 4 when tells her he's testing her and and she asks what happens if you fail a test? Things changed she loses her smile and starts twitching in the face a bit getting angry but trying to hide it. That's when she starts to manipulate Caleb. My final point being isn't wanting to be free a human feeling? and this movie is really thought provoking asking the big questions like what is emotion?
I probably didn't explain myself correctly but this film is amazing.

Saw this, it was ok, I expected it to be better, and I like Alex garland, probably my least favorite film of his that he's been involved with for me.

Glad I saw it differently than you. I think that's what makes it great. You can interpret it the way you want. :D

finally seen it late today. no need for spoiler since they're gonna stop showing it soon. think tomorrow is last day for viewing in this area.

man, this is so a goooood movie. its not for the shoot 'em up type or really violence type. this is good for the intellectual like A Space Odyssey 2001 but for the fantasy nerds.

ending is so liberating for her(AI). but Mr. Green think she's all analytical and not conscious enough. like she have feeling in her ****** but doubt she have the full senses we humans have; blood pulsing, etc. wonder how long she remains in the world. like don't she want to be hooked in the internet? or does she just observing incognito. maybe hack and disrupt humanity like Terminator cause surely, even her would be bored just watching life. too bad its unlikely we'll get a sequel.

I've just finished watching this movie. It was great. I enjoyed every second of it. It was visually stunning and I loved the plot. Very well executed.

Not seen a movie like this for a while. Very nicely done.

Easily one of the best science fiction films of this decade. This and Mad Max are probably my two favorite films of the year.

Well done, played, written but nothing new under the sun.
All goes as expected.
Felt like a long tv show episode.
Very cool to see this kind of flick tho.
BTW if you liked this you guys should definitly check "Black Mirror" season 2 episode 1 "Be Right Back" With Hayley Atwell, Domhnall Gleeson.

Caught this awhile back on the plane to NY.

Really liked it, a few weird moments (the dance scene in particular) but overall a good movie. The actress that played Ava did a really good job.

It's fantastic. The world will always prefer Fast and Furious so I'll always have to wait until the blu's of these kind of movies come out. seeing as theaters don't play them. Me and my friends drove 2 hours one time to LA for The Wrestler ha.

Was finally able to Redbox this - thoroughly enjoyed the aesthetic. Great pacing and style. Solid sci-fi with a touch of Twilight Zone...kept me engaged.

Ex Machina is the definitive (big spoilers)
"soulless AI villain" movie. When Ava achieves her final victory she does not celebrate, does not emote in any way. After "bonding" with Caleb for 7 days she ignores his screams as easily as if she was just walking by a random piece of furniture. Even as you watch her coldly leave him to starve to death you can't help but still "care" about her. Even though there is truly nothing to care about, and even though that "thing" would simply disregard any action to save you if you weren't immediately deemed useful. *shudder*

As Peter Travers said, I've never seen anything like it.

Really enjoyed it. Thought it defined that characters really well. Funny to see both those guys from the new star wars, in it. I loved Oscar Isaac. Really intriguing movie. I definitely would recommend it.

Very intriguing (and a little disturbing) science fiction film. Love Alex Garlands writing as always, and there are strong performances throughout. Very much so would recommend to fellow genre fans

Watched this with coffee in the morning and was captivated straight away. Beautiful story and great FX. One of those films you think about long after watching it. Bravo 8/10
