There does appear to be some color difference there and a possible crack on the leg. I would say its just the paint as I would expect if it was the hole lower leg/foot area it would have just been trashed.

Looks like the ankle snapped while trying to get this one on the post (which isn't always an easy task); but I have received a piece or two with factory coverups -- they have always been sent back.

you must realize that these statues come from china. a factory repair may mean the difference between employment... or worse case, execution.
