Yes she's playing Shalla-Bal, who was the OG Surfer Norrin Radd's love on his home planet Zenn-La. So it seems this is an alt-universe where she becomes the Surfer rather than Norrin.

We’ll never get the real version.

We did in 2007, albeit by a different studio and with a very wrong version of Galactus lol. Also, if this version of the F4 somehow find there way to Earth-616 then the Norrin Radd Surfer can still show up.

And Doug Jones was very good as SS. It’s just that everything else around him absolutely sucked.

The Galactus plot having a "personal dimension" has me picturing a scenario where Shalla-Bal ultimately helps the F4 reach Earth-616, perhaps because they somehow determine that reality is the only one where both Zenn-La/Norrin and Earth survive Galactus - but only if Reed & company get there. Her sacrificing herself in this alt universe so that Norrin lived elsewhere would give the character a nice arc....plus it would have the added benefit of making this female Surfer a one-and-done thing.

Hey, maybe John Malkovich is playing The Watcher Uatu. I think my theory needs him to provide that intel on Earth-616 lol.
