I know story is the most important thing and they're going for a certain retro style... but I still assumed a new FF movie would make these characters look at least half as cool as the 2005 cast.

Right now it's just no contest. And I'd still rather have a set of HT figures from the 2005 movie.

Good news is that a set of Mego figures from the new movie will accurately represent them on the shelf :)

I like the new designs way better (I didn't care for the mentality in the early 2000s that we should be ashamed of truly comic accurate looks), though I would prefer if they were uniform. Sue's suit is the most classic-looking of the bunch.

The first thing my son noticed was how small the new Thing is. This guy who's shorter than Sue is supposed to be able to last a few rounds with the Hulk?

As others point out, their sizes have never been very consistent, in particular the Hulk who is sometimes massive and sometimes less so. But Thing was never much larger than a normal human in the comics I care most about--the Kirby and Byrne runs.

I'd still prefer he be bigger than Sue.

sorry I'm not trolling, but surely you must see that The Thing is significantly further forward in this image than Sue?

And I'm pretty sure that 2025 The Thing will be taller than Sue. As already mentioned, he is stood further back from her in the trailer's "hero" shot of them all together.

I am interested to see how Joseph Quinn presents Johnny Storm's personality. As he doesn't seem to be presented with the devilish good looks that Johnny Storm is famous for, I wonder if he will double down on his playboy nature and charm. Not that Joseph Quinn is ugly, quite the opposite! He's certainly a better looking chap than me. But I feel like he isn't presented here as a heart throb. I think it's the hair. It's a bit... childish? No big deal really, though.

Chris Evans portrayed that side of Johnny Storm very well. It's mad how he nailed both the Human Torch and Captain America, when they are almost completely opposite in their respective personalities.

I can't even remember what Michael B Jordan did in Fant Four Stick.
Absolutely not!! Toxic Masculinity has been banned from all movies, especially Disney. He'll be all the girls' besty and they will objectify him more likely... :lol

Yeah I'm already anticipating him being constantly put in his place by his girlboss sister.

And Pedro is the perfect simp too... Just playing himself.

Reed will be cowering behind Sue too I'm sure. She'll make all the tough decisions and the boys will follow.

Alas, you're probably all correct in this.

Likewise not trolling but your term "significantly" is no where close to accurate. She's behind him, yes but her hand is at the same relative position as his forearm so she's not exactly yards (or meters for those who enjoy logical, 10-based units of measure) away. I just want the Thing to be imposing. I liked the design in the trailer, just hope that he gets some clobberin' time! :)

Also not trolling but you may wish to look at that cover again. If her hand was that close to his forearm it wouldn't be so tiny relative to The Thing's hands. Also their shadows are separate and distinct so she's definitely further back than it appears. I think how Sue is depicted leaning forward there is "off", as the size of her head seems incongruous with her position. This is just further proof that it's very easy to misinterpret perspective when viewing a 2D drawing. :)

TO HECK WITH ALL OF YOU!!! :rotfl (Goes off into Google land to find further proof of the Things size...but not with that search term!)

Have we not heard of perspective before?
The eye level line is at their knees making foreground figures look larger than background figures.

Eye Level Line or Horizon Line in red.

Yeah, depending on the artist, the Thing's size can very, and so can the Hulk's. I always saw Kirby's Thing and Hulk to not be that much larger than the average person. I don't see the issue here.

Lol at people pounding away at their keyboards making graphs and perspective charts. If you think he's the right size good for you. I did go back and look at some panels from the John Byrne run (the definitive run IMO) and he's pretty close to how he appears in the trailer, so that's good. His voice still sucks though, lol.

It's issue #51 - clearly. :lecture

I like the suits... except reeds which is missing the white collar or accent pieces like the others. Keep them uniform gah.

The Thing looks awesome and hopefully his voice grows on me. Other than Pedro the casting looks good (yes Johnny could do with a better hair style).
