The Lost World also happens to be Spielberg's most overtly political film as well, which is saying a lot considering the subject matter of some of his other more recent movies, such as SPR and Munich.
I like the first one the best, but I think TLW is really good too. The only good thing about the third on is having Alan Grant back because he was my favorite when I was little.
So did Rising Sun and Sphere and in retrospect it kinda seems like Crichton got screwed when it came to making films of his books. I read a lot in that same fiction genre and I really enjoyed those three books, but the movie translation were rather sub-par.
IMO Jurassic Park probably got made 10 years before it should of--it was a huge endeavor in special effects AND storytelling and I don't think it was a good as it could have--especially since I think the source material was very good.
