I have two of the LOTR ones - actually pretty low numbered ones, too and some of the Star Wars ones. Overall, I think they're great; they display very well.

Yeah, I've got a bunch of the Marvel ones and 2 LOTR ones. They're pretty sweet. Ordering my The Hobbit ones now. :rock

Wait... how can they already have film cells when the film doesn't even open for another almost 3 months??? I always thought these film cell collectibles were supposed to be actual cells from prints that were shown in the theater...

I was wondering that too! They can't be anywhere near a finished movie at this point.

I wonder how it works. Does WB provide them with a full print of the movie to chop up? Or do they just give them a few hundred feet of random footage?

(It's an odd collectible, in some ways, since these films aren't even being shot on film. Plus, I think for a lot of theaters, this will be projected digitally. There will be prints made, of course, but not nearly as many as for LOTR.)

This is a total money grab guys. You don't think these are actually real do you? This is like a Holly Hobby plate for your grandmother's wall.

What I figure they did was a digital copy was turned into film somehow. Then cut up and turned into Collectibles like this. I have several items from these guys and they're very nice quality and worth the price.

Given that the whole thing is recorded in digital, then that's exactly what they do.

Have someone like this: https://www.filmout.com/pages/serv_03.html

convert small and selected scenes to film and then chop up each frame and sell them off.

Really, once the film is released on blu-ray, other then the cost of the digital to film transfer, you could do it all yourself and end up with just the same 'original' film frame.

I figured the process isn't something too difficult for these guys to do. The items all the same are really quiet nice and if you're into film cell collectibles worth getting. Mine have shipped and should maybe be here by the end of the week.

Anyone remember when the LOTR ones hit and were a HUGE deal for a very short period of time. Then the market cratered, I think they are circa 15 bucks or so now.

Well, that and most of them are the same film snip. When I bought my SW ones, I had multiples to choose from with the same film snip. So, it's not like you could buy a ton of these and make a complete film/movie or something.

The Trilogy Tuesday frames? Yeah, those went crazy for a while and can be had for a decent price now.

My two LOTR ones I think have one frame thats the same but its a good one. The rest are all different and I figure I'll have the same thing happen with these.

Yeah, I'm thinking that at some point I should be able to get a few frames real cheap and then maybe make up a little panel that I coudl then fit into my crew gift Hobbit Photo Frame.

Think it could be something that would work rather well, but only a thought at this stage.
