I'm not sure, but I honestly wouldn't want Gt to acquire the SE license. Their products are already very expensive, even if they are third party figures.
Expensive? Huh?

I think Gametoys is reasonably priced, especially if you are just getting a standalone figure without the bike, etc. I'm comparing this to a standard 3rd party release where the price to quality ratio doesn't match up at times, you know those brands where we got a Mexican Cloud, etc.

The launch prices are okay, but most people look for the figure as soon as it's released, so the price is very high, and if it were a lincessed product, it would be even higher

Maybe they can hire people to make more reissues if they get a license? I don't know if it feels good for them to make so many toys only to have them all to get taken by scalpers and have them sitting in a storage space without being purchased and used. Honestly I wonder if there is anyone at Square Enix that have seen the quality of these.

Their quality seems very professional, why won't they try to acquire a license?

they have which is why they try to shut it down lol. squenix definitely doesn't wanna license something that is pissing on their own merch division (which is a portion of their annual profit). in an ideal world they'd license GT instead of putting out play arts shin as a response, but what can ya do - they haven't licensed out in some 15 years (barring P1, but that's a specialty case i'd argue)

The smart thing is for them to buy Gametoys lol

if gametoys ever gets bought by square then we can expect almost a double price increase since square charges so much for merch
Wow, in that case, let's hope they never give Gametoys a license or buy them lol. I don't really know how much is sold and all the production cost, but Square Enix may need to look at how much they can sell over how much money one unit can sell.

Scalpers are really not an issue in this hobby. Most companies, including GameToys, make however many figures are ordered in the preorder window. Anybody who wants one is given ample opportunity to get one. Aftermarket resellers charging what a figure is worth after that opportunity expires is not scalping. Scalping is a business model that exists by depriving others of their opportunity to purchase an item, no such thing is happening here.

Here's the set on the Worldbox at201:

The fit is pretty much perfect, you'd think it was tailored specifically to this body. The only thing I'd change is making the sweater a smidge longer. I would definitely recommend this body for anybody unbothered by visible joints, as she scales really well imo.

I did promise to show what the set looks like on the TBleague s44, and, well, not nearly as good lol:

Figure is just much too thin. Everything is loose and even on the tightest option the harness is way oversized. I didn't bother futzing with it and trying to actually make it look good because it was a lost cause and at that point I had already settled on using the worldbox body. She's basically exactly the same height as the at201, but just absurdly thin. And the hands don't even fit the pegs out of the box (they fit the worldbox perfectly).

I do want to give Superduck the credit they deserve, this set is a monumental step up in quality from the previous sets I've bought. It's been several years and dozens of releases since I last gave them a chance, but they've definitely improved in that time. The headsculpt is still generic and lame, but the clothing is higher quality and doesn't feel like the stitching will give out the first time you try to put it on a figure, and the plastic parts are made of much better plastic and have a much better paintjob than the old ones I've had in hand. The paint is still pretty basic, don't misunderstand, but it's all within the lines this time lol. I'm actually quite happy with this purchase, all things considered.

And a final shot of the current Remake shelf:

Silly question. I assume you went Pale for the Worldbox AT201 body? For anyone who knows more, I take it there is absolutely zero difference between that and say the AT203 Pale, just a newer version, joints look the exact same in comparison to my eyes?

To my eye from these photos, 203 looks a scooch slimmer? But that might just be an illusory effect from the bonier chest in the clavicle area.

I open for a new Sephiroth figure, at this point my Sephiroth Coat has start flaking..
😅
That's unfortunate. Didn't the original advertise as "genuine leather"? Maybe they played around with definitions to still do pleather-ish material? Maybe they'll offer a real leather coat to put on our older Sephiroth. I'd be down for that.

So did you make the headsculpt yourself?

Yeah lol.

The Worldbox Pale is actually a decent shade of skintone, rather than the TBleague Pale, which is Sickly Victorian Vampire Chic. It's less pale than AC Cloud, too, so while I think Yuffie should be a bit more tan, I think it works in context. AT203 should be the same color, they're all designed to have swappable parts, some of which are sold separately. My understanding is that the AT203 uses the same arms and abdomen as the AT201, but it has longer legs and comes with the smaller chest piece.
