Curious to see how **** this ASToys Tifa looks.
The trade term “genuine leather” refers to bonded leather, which will absolutely degrade over time. Basically it’s the bits of leftover leather and I believe polyurethane? Is it at least better than pleather? It makes sense that it would be the lowest quality leather when compared against true leather, but I'm hoping it's still a class above the stuff that crumbles in your hand...maybe they both crumble, lol.
Actually “Faux leather” is more durable than “genuine leather”, and usually costs more."Genuine" is the lowest grade of leather. But it's still better than pleather.
From leather article:Actually “Faux leather” is more durable than “genuine leather”, and usually costs more.
“Genuine leather” will crack and peel. The Sephiroth coat is “genuine leather”, not good quality leather.
I know it seems like a distinction without a difference, but this article is specifically using the term real leather, which is important. That means it’s a normal leather product. “Genuine leather” as I and someone else explained, is leather scraps mixed with polyurethane, but is different from “faux leather”.From leather article:
"Faux leather is much less durable than real leather. It tends to crack and peel over time, with poor quality pieces losing their original finish in just a few months. Because faux leather is man-made, this peeling and cracking can't be undone."
I don't think Sephiroth coat is real leather.

Meh, I see “genuine leather” used for bonded leather all the time because it is just a marketing term which lets them get away with making it sound better than it is, so I thought that was a concise enough explanation for the topic (Sephiroth’s coat) when quality leather likely wouldn’t simply label themselves “genuine leather” and nothing else. But you’re right that I should have added that somewhere so people would look for other terms as well, as opposed to just seeing the words “genuine leather” assuming it’s fake and running without checking for other quality markers lol that’s what I get for posting right before bedThis is wrong. You're describing 'bonded leather', which is leather scraps glued together.
"Genuine leather" does not have a definition, it is a marketing term.
The problem being, these are all English terms being used by companies who don't use English as their primary language, so the terms aren't being used appropriately. These companies are using "genuine leather" to try and convince you the product they are selling you is of a certain quality.
People are buying products that are described with terms like "genuine leather" and when it flakes they think that means "genuine leather" is low quality. They aren't considering that they were lied to. They don't stop and think "Hmm, this product is low quality, maybe it isn't actually genuine leather."
Actual leather qualities use terms like "top grain", "full grain", or "split grain." But there is no grading authority, or rules set in place that govern correct usage of these terms. So, it's hard to have any serious discussion about it because none of these companies will actually use the terms appropriately.
The reality is, none of these figures will use high-quality leather (whatever grade/term you want to use) because leather is expensive and you're not going to "waste" high-quality leather on making clothes for 1/6 scale action figures. To buy a high-quality leather in such a quantity to make 300 to 10,000 action figures would simply be cost prohibitive.
They called us outPlaying Rebirth and stumbled across this fellow collector. The poor guy only needed a few hundred Gil for a "Fluffy Wuffy" to complete his collection.
I feel like this one was aimed personally at us collectors.

Jeebus that price but, it is the well known how SE price their products. An easy pass for me and I am very happy GT is aroundView attachment 754880
Play Arts Shin Noctis is up for PO at the Square Enix NA store, $219 USD
I'm not familiar with PA Shin, only Kai which I have not been impressed with. Sculpt looks ok but all PAK look drastically better in the promo photos than IRL. For the price and lack of accessories you might as well get the Gametoys version.
The only thing that could convince me to get this is if SE does the rest of the FFXV cast, which I'm not sure if GT will do. They released a huge XV lineup for PAK back in 2017, would be nice to get all the other characters either as Shin or GT figures.
$140 in japan which is far more reasonable. wouldn’t recommend buying imports domestically & even less so from square’s awfully priced regional storesView attachment 754880
