Yeah, being able to see the enemy before you engage in a battle is a step in the right direction. Especially knowing who you're going to fight with and being able to avoid a confrontation is the best!

But, I still love the turn based strategy in RPGs. To each their own.

From the video trailers, it looks like a normal action game to me. If it wasn't for the HP numbers above the enemies heads I wouldn't even think it was an RPG. :lol

More like Kingdom Hearts meets FFXIII.

Yeah, I guess it is more Kingdom Hearts-esque. The giant monsters and wall fighting reminded me of God of War, but I guess it does seem like a generic action game.

So that's what Final Fantasy has become, a generic action game. I guess I'd rather play that than what XIII was, i.e. 'run straight and press X a thousand times.'

I wouldn't want them to ditch turn based combat, and yes I agree the combat in XIII was too easy! I like how combat is handled in the tales series, your not as restricted and at least there is a level of challenge for the player and you can see the enemies in the field.

The best turn based rpg of this past generation is easily Lost Odyssey ,that is what I like.

Im soo glad with the direction they've gone here, it has clear inspiration from Uncharted. Ive always wanted an action FinalFantasy. I love the more realistic setting, art design and its next-gen its like this game was made for me!

To those complaining this isnt an RPG, it wasn't never going to be. It wasn't even gonna be a main number FF.

The reason this game is so action oriented is because the game director for Kingdom Hearts is the director for this game as well.

Hmm, interesting. That explains a lot.

Well regardless if its turn based or not. This game looks incredible! And I'm buying it on day one. :rock

Paradigm shift. Queue cancelling. It's impossible to do the harder challenges without strategy in XIII/XIII-2... I guess you ignored those though. It also opens up the last third with Gran Pulse.

I question anyone that says "press X and win", did they even get past the first third of the game? And that's fine if you quit after 10 hours because you didn't like it, but don't say the whole game is like that because it's not.

The last FF game I played was XIII. I liked it well enough though the ending did leave me rather confused.

I wonder if I can jump right in with this one or need to play the ones I missed to understand the story.

I believe this is a completely new story. So you should be fine if that's the case.

Yeah this one looks awesome! The one thing I hope they keep is te length in the game. Since its not a rpg you won't have to grind much. Though I could be totally wrong.

I enjoy these longer games as well. When I can finish a game in under 10 hours I feel like I got ripped off. :lol I miss the 60+ hour games.

Well the numbered games are, but you have 13 13-2 and 13 lightning returns. This was originally going to be 13 Versus So idk if it had anything to do with that world or not. You also have x and x-2 so there are some connections on the games :lol

Ya but that was before they decided to turn Versus into final fantasy XV, I always knew Versus would be an action game and I expecting final fantasy XV to be a RPG, now XV is what appears to be an action game because XV is versus!:dunno I hope there is more to it then hacking and slashing , I like strategy, grinding and a lengthy playing time.

It's from KH creators, so expect KH level of play.

Versus XIII/XV is set in the same universe as XIII/XIII-2/LR XIII but in a different era. Games in this universe are part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis project. Similar to how there was the Ivalice Alliance (XII, XII: RW, Tactics, Tactics Advance, Vagrant Story, and some more).

Thanks I haven't really been paying attention to Versus since it was announced 7 years ago and I kind of lost interest on it until e3. This is why I have a console ordered already lol Granted it wont be out for awhile, but I am still pumped!

FNC isn't connected like IA or Compilation of FFVII. They share the same mythology and several common themes, like L'Cie and Fal'Cie (which I'm not sure XV has, but Type-0 and XIII do), but are not connected in terms of world.
