I was watching the marathon with my girlfriend and OMG!! amazing... Captain Malcolm Reynolds is so kick ass.. defintely would like a 1/6th figure of him.

Don't feel too bad...I also just realized what an awesome show this was about a month ago....made me sad when I watched the last episode on DVD...I wanted more!! :monkey2

Welcome Venakin, you've taken you're first step into... oh well, you know the rest.

Its a great show, and Target had the first/only season on DVD for $17.99?!? Great price and an excellent, excellent show.

Now you need to watch Serenity!

Yeah, I bought the whole series very cheaply months ago but never got around to watching it until a couple of weeks ago when I was sick and had nothing to do. So I watched the entire series of Firefly in a couple of days (and then followed it up with the entire first season of the new Battlestar Galactica, which I also had sitting on my shelf for a long time, unopened). I loved them both! It's such a shame that Firefly got canceled. It's SO much better than most of what is on TV these days.

I was kind of disappointed with Serenity, though. I know it's not realistic to expect a 2-hour movie to wrap up all of the loose ends that were supposed to come to light in several seasons of television, but it didn't quite do it for me. There was a lot of good stuff in it, but I didn't like some of the plot choices that were made.

I hate fox, I don't know why they always seem to cut off all the good shows... unless of course theres like 10 million viewers or something.. I LIKED DRIVE!!

You know, I actually watched Serenity long before I ever got around to checking out Firefly. One thing does puzzle me though.....why the way they hook up with River and her brother are different...or maybe I just missed something.

It's not different. In the pilot, we see how River and Simon meet the crew of Serenity, and in the movie, we see what happened just before that -- how he escaped with her (they just skip over the whole part that we already saw in the pilot).

But didn't they escape onto Serenity in the movie...got lifted up onto the ship? And in the show he is a travelling passenger with his sister hidden in a crate?

The ship in the movie that they escape the Federation facility in isn't Serenity and its not the Serenity's crew that helped break river out - just mercs Simon paid for. No inconsistency in the story lines.

Well, I would have to check to be sure, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't Serenity that was picking them up in the movie. I figured it was just some ship that Simon had hired to come and get him. I've only seen the movie once, though, so I could be wrong.

Yep, just an unrelated bunch of people. See, now do you think the movie is awesome?!?

Well that does make more sense. I was a bit confused there and thought maybe they switched the story a bit for the movie for those viewers who may have missed the series and might be lost.

But doesn't Capt. Reynolds say that he was happy helping River escape because it was a kick to the Alliance....it was right after they showed them escaping onto a ship....anyway...in the movie he does tell them they are not part of his crew.....but in the tv show he does say they are crew members towards the end. So it just seems to me that somethings were changed....a tiny bit....I've watched the series only once...but the movie probably 10 times...but I'm sure I'm just thinking too much..

Oh yeah, Fox execs are a bunch of douchebags! This is such an amazing series and so much better than half the shows out there right now. And yeah, Nathan Fillion is an amazing actor! I can't believe that he isn't on a steady show right now. Well, at least we get Adam on Chuck and Jewel on SG-A!

I just saw Saving Private Ryan again the other day and isn't Nathan in that? Playing the guy they mistakenly think is Private Ryan?

Anyway, he's in a new movie coming out.....damn what's the name of it......ahhhhhhhh.......White Noise 2 I believe. Probably will suck, but I'll watch it for him.

Edit: woops...that movie came out a year ago...strange I just saw a trailer for it the other day. :lol

I agree that it did seem that they made Simon and Mal's relationship a lot more antagonistic in the movie than in the show. But I believe there is meant to be a fair amount of time between the last episode in the series and the movie, and I think we're just supposed to assume that things between them had deteriorated over time or something.

I am sure you are right. I think having watched the movie first, then the series just made it bit more confusing for me. :)
That's what I get for not watching things in the proper order. :lol
