Hi, this is my first post at this wonderful forum. I found my way here through my love for Firefly, and was blown away when I saw, first the excellent head sculpts by Trevor. I mean they look spot on, some of the best head sculpts I have seen anywhere of anyone. Then I started to see all of the wonderful figures everyone was putting together.

So that brings me to my question. Would anyone be interested in the weapons of Firefly in 1/6 scale, like Mal's pistol, or Vera? If there is enough interest I would love to sculpt them. If you are interested I will get started sculpting (probably Mal's pistol first), then post the images and see what everybody thinks, and go from there.

Most of us at least have Mal and Zoe's guns through Stevo's Toys. But a 1/6 Vera would definitely be something that a lot of people would be interested in. But I don't see it as being sculptable really - more of an output from a CAD program to a rapid prototyper.

@ Darklord Dave, I will probably still sculpt them, as for Vera, it would be a challenge, but I love challenges!

@BuffyGirl, Yeah I hope there is interest, I love Firefly. And it's not only guns, I could do other things, Jayne's grenades or other props.

Apparently I can't send PM's yet, not enough posts, so I will answer what I can here. I haven't sculpted any guns yet, I wanted to see what demand there was for them. I need to gather as many reference images that I can, so they can be as accurate as possible. Any suggestions for guns I should do would be great. I am planning on doing Mal's Pistol and Vera.

I would love to see what you can do with Mal's pistol. While Stevos rig is fantastic, I think his weapons leave a little to be desired. If yours is an upgrade then I'll be all over it!

@Marf Master, That's good to hear, I am planning on them being extremely accurate (planning is the key word).

Oh yeah, anyone know of any place to get really good reference images, websites, books. I plan on getting as much as I can from the DVD's, but more is always welcome.

A quick google image search for "malcolm reynolds gun" came up with some good shots of it.

I also have the Stevo's Guns and rigs, but as Marf stated they do leave something to be desired. I'd be interested in getting better guns. There is no pistol for Jayne available. I found the Firefly Companion Vol I and II to be a big help. Glad to see your interest in this. If Trevor makes the additional sculpts he intends to there is going to be an even greater need. Inera's crossbow, River's Battle AX and Sword, and Wash's pistol.
Welcome aboard

Firefly Companion eh, I will pick them both up. I am fairly new to casting, so that will probably be my biggest hurdle. But it is something I have been meaning to learn.

@ Anzik, Price wise I can't see them being very expensive. One thing I am unsure of is whether I paint them or not. I don't think it would take too long, but it is another step.

Well here is my 2 cent:
If the guns are in the $8-10 range unpainted that would work for me.
For me its the overall expense.
