For people who have Stevos guns how long are they, I want to make sure that anyone who has the rigs will be able to use that for these guns. Oh, by the way I have started working on Mal's pistol, I do have a few other things going so it will take a little time.

Here's my reasoning:

Trev did us an amazing favor by offering these fabulous heads at such a reasonable price. Most need to hire a painter at $30-$50. Most are opting for True Type bodies at about $45 shipped. Steve-o's rigs are about $25, SMG's coats and vest $25, this is without boots, pants and shirts.
These figures are roughly running about $150 per figure to assemble and $450 for the set. Adding anything more than another $8-10 per figure is really pushing the limit (if anyone has any).
I think the more reasonably priced, the more orders you will get. I think some who are on a budget may think they can use something that looks close enough.

@ Anzik, I totally agree, I am not planning on getting rich off of this. This community cares as much about Firefly as I do, and I figured I could help. Oh, and about Steve-o's rigs, if anyone has them I could sure use the measurements for the guns. Just to make sure my guns would find in the holsters.

Just don't sell yourself short. If people like and want your work, they should be willing to compensate you fairly.

So I have made some progress on Mal's pistol. Let me tell you, the eight sided barrel at this scale is quite challenging. Other than that though, it is going well. My biggest challenge, in the end, is going to be casting, I have very little practice at it, so that may take a little while.

tdl84 - if you're no good at casting, then doing something this small and detailed won't work at all, you'd be best to get lonnie hale from h2creative.com to cast them up for you

I'll check and see if there are any octagonal tubes of styrene at the hobby store this week.

@ Mollins, It's something I really would like to learn, but I will check out that site.

@ Anzik, Thanks, but that is not necessary, the challenge is part of the fun!

I have been looking for the octagonal tubes but no luck. Anyone found them?

Oh wow I never saw this thread before!

I am in a Mechanical engineer tech program and I have a solid modeling class that I have to take again (for stupid reasons) and I was gonna see if my teacher would let me make a 1/6 Vera for a final project.

there is also a rapid prototype printer at my school that they let us use so I was gonna check it out and see if it was possible to do. would anyone be interested if I did? not sure if it can happen but if people were on board I could ask around more.

I am gonna look into it. I know a guy in my class did a prototype for a project last year and I don't think it cost him anything. even if it did it is at a discounted rate I'm sure. theres a website for it that I can't remember, I'll check on Monday.

Yeah, I've looked into that type of thing and even at the cheapest prices it can cost like $800 to print something like a 1/6th scale character, I'd imagine a life-size gun would be super expensive.
