I loved the Smurfs when I was little. I have no desire to see them on the big screen. Why can't Hollywood leave classic ____ alone. I don't want to see a movie based on a TV show, I don't want to see a movie based on a cartoon. Get off your ass and come up with something new!

Bringing them into the real world makes it more of an "event" type thing that is needed for a feature film.

But I really don't see the appeal of making this film at all - were they really that popular? Are they STILL that popular? Are adults who grew up with them going to take their kids?

I don't disagree, but I do feel it also contributes to the loss of what the smurfs are. The essence of them. It's sad.
