So, earlier today I bought a nice item for a nice price through "Buy It Now" on EBay. Almost immediately thereafter, the seller re-posted the same exact auction with a jacked up BIN price.

I asked the guy why he did that, but haven't yet received a response. He has not refunded me or anything, which would suggest that he regretted not selling it for higher and was a bum trying to re-sell it for higher than I already paid, but it would also suggest that he did not intend on keeping my money.

It could be that he has another, similar item, but re-posting the exact same auction with the exact same pictures and description makes me wonder if he just plans on hosing me (this isn't an item that most people would have multiples of).

He looked completely legit, having a fair amount of all positive feedback (says 100%). But after I saw this weird re-posting, I clicked his feedback link and noticed that he had at least 2 negatives as a seller, but of course, the parenthetical note there said "in the last 12 months" (thanks EBay  )

So, my question is, what should I do at this point? It was a fairly expensive item, and if he is trying to screw me somehow, I want to get a refund ASAP. Should I immediately report this to EBay?

See if he answers your email. It could just be that he has duplicate items and he wants to see if he can get more for this one. Did you buy the item pretty quickly after he put it up?

wait and give the seller a chance. they just might have more than one. other than that you'll have to wait the ten days to start a dispute. other than that...:monkey1

Yeah, I was the 2nd person to see it. It was a really good deal, and I suspect the only reason no one has bought the re-listed item yet is because he has a weird auction title, as even being listed at $50 more than what I paid, it is still a good deal.

As for getting a little antsy, I got screwed out of a large sum of money by dollyplanet.com recently, so my faith in online sellers and Paypal aren't what they used to be. Because of this I probably am a little more worried than I should be, but I just wanted to see if anyone else here had similar experiences, or had an idea for the proper protocol. Thanks for the responses. I'll give him a day or two to respond, anyway.

I really don't think he has 2. It just isn't that kind of item.

Of course its possible, but unlikely, and like I said, he has some negative feedback where one of the buyers says that the seller tried to "hustle" him, and the other guy says he got a knock-off item that wasn't reflected in the auction description.

If I thought he was legit and had two of these, I would have posted the link for someone here to bid on.

That sucks. I hope it works out ok for you. If you use paypal i think they have some buyer protection in place and you can file a claim. I am not sure how it works. Let us know how it turns out and if it turns out bad let us know the bad seller so we can avoid that person.

$50 dollar difference, you got a good price. The seller could have 2 and just priced the first one too low.

Though he does have 2 bad feedbacks . . .

Well, somebody bought the other one already, so I'll go ahead and post them:

auction 1:

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=290304425615

auction 2:

https://cgi.ebay.com/Terminator-T-800-Endoskeleton_W0QQitemZ290304431553QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item290304431553&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A13|39%3A1|240%3A1318

I know how Paypal's protection works generally. My fear is that he will drain the bank account and close it or something. If so, Paypal may not give me anything. . .of course, that is if he doesn't have two.

What's the big deal? I had 6 of these at one time.

:lol

Its possible that this guy has two (or more), but the average collector, even the average collector of Hot Toys figures, surely won't.

If he had a stock photo of some crappy little trinket that you imagine any fella off the street having multiples of, then I would worry less than the exact same photos and descriptions for something that costed $100+ bucks when it was first released. This is compounded by the feedback issue.

Paypal now works differently for seller's that qualify for protection. The seller does qualify as it states on his listing. What that means if you don't get the item you will be fully refunded no matter if he empties his account. Also since his feedback is so low Paypal probably froze the funds and they won't get released to him until either 21 days have past, you leave him positive feedback or he provides a tracking number to show it as delivered.

Wow! Great prices. I had this on my saved searches but I never got a email about them. :(

Hope everything is okay with your auction.

Hmm I remember not so long ago we had a few of these still left and noone was willing to pay $130 for them... I think its completely possible that seller had two of these, hopefully you'll get yours soon.

Yeah you got it for a good price and I think 2 negs isnt' a big deal comparing to the hundreds or thousands he may have.

It ended yesterday,no need to panic yet.Paypal does have your back so dont you worry:D
