FLASH!!!! KING OF THE IMPOSSIBLE!!!!

I am sure there might be a thread out there dedicated to Hodges' Flash, but I thought I would start a new one - Just checked out the new dvd last night, here are some thoughts

1. Great prod. design and score, those are the two that really make the movie.

2. Sure it's camp, but it is fun. The director Mike Hodges went from making a classic "Get Carter" to "Flash Gordon" and back to "I'll Sleep when I'm Dead". It just shows he is man of many talents, a very versatile director. He also assembled an amazing english cast to surround Jones with.

3. The poster is great, a hark back to the serials in the past. Now they make the "big head" poster - a big picture of Cruises' noggin, taken from a tattered US magazine cover. Boring.

4. if you are a playa' hata' on Sam Jones well at least he was a new face and the studio took a chance. Now if they made the movie it would be Matt f'ing Damon or Ben f'ing Affleck.

5. Say what you want about the movei, if you think it sucks - fine. But at least it did one thing - it inspired Alex Ross to go into comic books and be an amazing artist.

6. I'll take Flash over anything in the theaters now. At least it ain't now Brett f'ing rattner and Rush Hour 3. It was a unique picture not some rehash that we have seen time and time again.

7. Maybe Flash is more like Rocky Horror than Star Wars, fine. But Rocky Horror is a cult classic and this movie is too.

PLUS it's better than that lame sci fi show that is airing today, granted I haven't seen it yet, but I don't think you need a crystal ball to tell you that

The same guy that is selling that 12" Flash custom is also selling a 12" Ming custom as well. Fairly impressive piece... and the price is DOUBLED than that of Flash.

It's Spenser. He did some hs for us Bond fans (Goldfinger and Blofeld).

Nothing beats Filmation's animated Flash. Best Flash ever.

Got the DVD and it ROCKS! Love that old campy flick!
Ming rules! And by the way, that TRASH of a show that Sci-Fi produced just ended and it is AWFUL! Ming is not even Ming! Just some guy! NO imagination whatsoever!

Anyway, I think Spencer (Steven Ledford's) Ming figure custom is one of the best ever produced. I told him so a couple of years back when he first created it. One of the all-time best customs in my book.

And the movie it goes to, deserved a nice DVD. Sorry we didn't get the one with more features like the British one, but this one will do.

And the guy playing Ming is awesome.

My wife has yet to see it and she will probably never want to watch it again.

I pickd up my copy of the re-release today and can't wait to watch it. Wasted my time on that abortion of a show that Sci-Fi put together... the guy they picked for Ming is about as threatening as dry toast...

Pic and Sound were tops on my system! But then, I am not top of the line here! But, it looked GOOOOOD! Sounded...GOOOOD!

And Mr Hat, I am now afraid of dry toast. Because this guy...was worse than that. Just SOME GUY! MING...MING THE FRIKKIN MERCILESS! Some guy? No. Sorry. No. He's SUPPOSED to be one of the all-time great sci-fi villains. THIS APPROACH AIN' IT! Show's over before it started. Like the guy playing Flash though. He's trying. Girls are hot. Show sucks. Too bad. I was aboard. They had me. To quote THE WHO, I won't be fooled again!

I agree with dekdave, the filmation is the best flash ever - except for that
f'in batmite dragon creature, watch the first 30 or so episodes, skip the rest
