well it depends on the type of cat, if it has pissed on your couch and how long you plan on leaving the cat in the microwave...it's complex.

I see sooooo many people keeping electronics (Laptops, DVD players, game systems) on the carpet and beds, it kills me to see that stuff.

I set my laptop on the floor sometimes, but I always set it on the power block so it's not flat on the floor and it can still breath and be cooled by the fan or I'll even lay it on it's side ( with the monitor open ) so it stands and the bottom it free to breath. I only do that when I take it to the basement when I am gaming.
