I know some people trust the glass shelf but I don't. I'm pretty sure Jason exceeds the ikea weight limit though. Ikeas site says 13 lbs per shelf.

Easily. If you're worried, just double up the shelf with the extra piece of glass you can't use. Mines been sitting pretty just like that since he arrived.
