The whole mystery driving the episode and the reveal wasn't something great or even satisfactory. But it's still good to see the show find ways to revisit Fry's past, always a nice change to see those characters.
The ending was simple yet so emotional and I got teary eyed. In fact it took me back to my own memories from years ago when I wished my mother was alive. She passed away at the age of 43 in 2000 when I was just starting college and I was about 19 years old.
So I wasn't sure if the episode ending affected me only due to my own past or that the episode was indeed so emotionally touching. But now reading many other people's reactions online, looks like most were moved by the ending, even though the setup of the whole episode isn't something memorable. Still, it had some funny moments and references.
The ending song is Manchild by Eels.

This is a good review of the episode especially the last paragraph about the ending.
