Please excuse my ignorance, but sometimes people will tell me rumors of Batfleck retruning past Flashpoint. Didn't Affleck repeatedly say he's burned out on the role and seemed to have moved on for good?

Yea I don’t believe anything until it’s an official confirmation. All these vague rumors and tweets. Making people guess over and over. That’s a thing I don’t like about Snyder. Stop making the fans guess and just say if things are cool or not. Stop posting pics of a table with a comic in the background with some vague statement. Cause every time he does it we hear one thing from somebody else and or WB and it’s back to guessing again .

Then we hear about announcements this and announcement that. Lol if the man is truly back he should just say so and WB should announce something. Cause this constant he said she said is annoying lol.

Like I remember some time ago they said after the merger they are going to announce all the Snyder films and that Snyder is back. All they announced was that stupid dc super pets film and the Batman sequel.

Yup. Affleck has gone on record saying he's moved on from Batman and in every interview he seems more and more at peace that he has put this behind, and yet there's always that rumor of his Batman being restored, a miniseries incoming, or that leaked concept art for the canned solo film that gets people excited. Like I said, I might be ignorant here because there's clearly something I'm not getting, but there's some real incongruity between rumors and words from the man himself.

Read in between the lines. Affleck was forced out of the Batman role by Matt Reeves, who refused to work within the DCEU. The studio simply catered to his whims. Same thing happened when Sony hired Paul Feig for Ghostbusters. They simply catered to him when he said he didn't want to work within the Ghostbusters continuity, and they manipulated Ivan Reitman into going along with it. Most studios treat directors as gods who get everything they want, until they deliver a flop. Because the execs know very little about how to make a movie themselves. They need the director.

Never believe ANY actor who says they don't want to return to a role. 99% of the time it's a BS negotiating ploy. And if they got fired unwillingly, they will rarely admit it unless they're a real iconoclast who doesn't give AF about anything. Affleck said he loved returning to the role in The Flash and it was a great experience. Why wouldn't he return if asked back? And given the new WB leadership, it's a reset on every potential relationship with the studio and its past talent.

Well, the demands of getting physically into Batman shape could be offputting to him. Yeah he'd be paid but he'd be paid doing some other movie too.

In a world where skinny minnies like Keaton and Pattinson are playing Batman, I'm sure they could tolerate a pared down physique on Affleck. Also remember, he was shown doing mega weightlifting in BVS to take on Superman. That size isn't supposed to be his baseline.

Grant Morrison said this about Ezra and The Flash movie. My guess is still that Ezra is suffering from the onset of schizophrenia, which typically sets into someone in their 20s. The way that Grant says this Ezra doesn't resemble the one he knew seems to be a typical description of schizophrenia. People have been saying for a while society needs to get a lot better at identifying this and treating it, because it only gets worse as it goes untreated, and is something that often comes up in psychological descriptions of some notorious killers and criminals.

You worked with Flash actor Ezra Miller, who is facing a series of ever-wilder accusations, from clashes with police in Hawaii to a family accusing him of grooming their child (which she denies). What do you make of their current situation?
I know they’ve had these problems. I haven’t spoken to them for a while, and the last time I spoke was long, long before this. All I can say is that it’s just not the person I know. I’ve heard stories just like everyone else. I just don’t know. Ezra cut off contact from pretty much everyone for a while. It’s not the person they were. They weren’t aggressive in any way. I just thought Ezra was a super-intelligent kid with so many talents. So all I can say is that I didn’t see that side in any way with them.

And what was the deal with the ultimately unused Flash screenplay you wrote with Ezra?
Well, there had been a few versions, and as far as I remember, Ezra just wasn’t quite happy with what they were getting at the time. And Ezra had a lot of ideas; they came to me with a book of ideas. And then we worked together. It really was just the two of us. They came over here to Scotland and hung out, and we wrote this thing. I really liked it. Warner Bros. only gave us two weeks! It was cruelty, you know. It was hardcore. We had to be like the Flash to get this thing done, and they were looking for something quite different. I got paid, and it was good fun. It didn’t do the job they were looking for, which was to franchise things and set things up, and bring other characters in. It was a Flash story, so it wasn’t where they wanted to go with multiverse and stuff. And that was the end of it.

Leto was not the closest comic accurate joker.
Joker doesn’t have tats
He doesn’t care about Harley quinn
He doesn’t hang out in fancy clubs
He isn’t a flashy 2010s gangster
That was nothing like the joker.
Heath wasn’t perfect but I got more of a joker vibe from him then leto. Heath was a clown maniac while leto was just some boring gangster. I’m sorry . “Gangsta”

Does he seem like he cares about Harley in that scene? He seems like he can't stand her to me. WB still cut the end of the scene there where he slaps her and knocks her to the ground.

I'm talking about his performance and how he physically embodies the role, not the tattoos or makeup features. Those can be easily removed.

Joker's often had a gang. Nicholson's Joker had it, the animated series Joker had the Royal Flush gang. Joker IS a gangster. But the writing isn't the point I'm making. I'm talking about the casting, how his face and body type resemble the classic Joker, and his voice and acting. And I'm definitely not talking about his personal life. Last I checked, most Hollywood celebrities have bizarre personal lives.

He definitely did care. The whole movie was spent on him trying to find her . And yea he had a gang but not like that. It was made up of freaks and out cast.,

Joker is not a gangster. Maybe early on but in that sense of selling product and owning clubs he isn’t. He’s pretty much chaos driven. He doesn’t want order he wants mayhem.

Leto doesn’t really look like the joker to me. He’s tall and skinny. Anybody could look like that. I think the guy from gotham made a much better joker than leto did. He looked more the part.

I really feel very sorry for Miller, if they really are going through this type of mental breakdown. Not a good thing to happen to anyone.

There's also a connection between LSD and schizophrenia. LSD seems to be getting more popular these days, not sure. And the legal filing against Miller accuses him of giving LSD to the girl he's with. LSD can exacerbate schizophrenia symptoms. Just look at what the personal effects of this are said to be at bottom below. Sounds exactly like what Miller's dealing with right now. The way to deal with this is not to label people as monsters and throw them under the bus. But our society hasn't made it easy to force treatment on people who need it but don't want it, until they get involved in the legal system, after which a lot of damage has been done.

https://areterecovery.com/dual-diagnosis/lsd-schizophrenia/
For some people, psychotic symptoms from taking too much LSD can last for several years or require lifetime treatment. This is not because LSD causes psychosis, but because it can change brain chemistry enough to make schizophrenia symptoms much more apparent.

People with schizophrenia, especially those who do not have a diagnosis of this condition, are more likely to suffer job loss, lost relationships, legal problems, increased need for emergency medical treatment, and incarceration if they abuse substances.

I would imagine that the recent real life problems with both Ezra Miller and Amber Heard would affect casting for JL2 if that ever does get made. But hey, if recasting is required I don’t see that as preventing Zack from wanting to finish the saga if given the opportunity and the other actors are available and willing.

Ben also said he’d never star in a superhero movie again after 2003 Daredevil. And after joking on jimmy Kimmel “… I guess I’m not Batman?” he went on to film the extra scenes in ZSJL and to appear in the Flash. The pattern I see with Ben is that he plays hard to get as a negotiating tactic. (Cue the scene from Good Will Hunting! Lol)

To address a wish I commonly see expressed to reboot the entire DCEU:

I don’t see any sort of all out reboot for the DCEU because of Miller being replaced and other problems such as Amber Heard’s public image being so sullied now. I guess we could add to that list of reasons for rebooting that even if WBD wants Zack Snyder back to make JL 2 and 3 Snyder won’t be able to film for DC again for about 2 years due to completion of Rebel Moon 1 and 2 (shot concurrently, but that still takes time).

Miller reportedly delivers a very good performance in the Flash. And take with a grain of salt, but it is rumored that the cut of AM2 with Heard that gives her 20+ minutes of screen time scored better with test audiences than the 10 minute cut. Replacing Heard costs the studio more money. And WBD is reportedly in a belt tightening mode.

Anyway, the new direction that WB chose with the Hamadaverse is not what David Zaslav wants! He wants an MCU-like interconnected universe, not the standalone films that the Hamadverse was making. And Zaslav reportedly wants better box office than the Hamadaverse has delivered on average. WB did have two successes with Joker and Aquaman. But reportedly Emmerich and Hamada actually undermined Joker from being made in the first place, had no faith in it, and made a deal to split the profits with two other investors, receiving only 1/3 of the $1B box office.

Shazam and BoP garnered good reviews but their box office was hugely underwhelming. BoP might have just barely broken even but only a hair’s breadth, otherwise it lost money. Shazam made a small profit for a superhero film, but not impressive by any means when one considers that so many superhero movies now are raking it in. WW84 took a massive belly flop. Gunn’s TSS was popular with critics but performed poorly at the box office.

Similarly I don‘t expect a total reboot for Henry Cavill’s Superman. The phrase “starting from scratch” that was used in one of the trades recently I think means scrapping the other Superman or Supergirl projects that were in development and resuming with Henry Cavill who will make solo Superman films founded on the arc for the character that’s already established. That was the orginal plan for Superman before WB “course corrected” post-BvS, which very soon (after Geoff Johns and Jon Berg left due to the epic failure of Josstice League) evolved into the so-called Hamadaverse. In any event, the “scratch” part of Cavill’s return to making solo Superman films will be a return to the drawing board about the specific stories for MoS 2 and 3. I‘m sure Superman will also be Black Adam’s nemesis for for BA2.

I do however also think the Flash will also fully establish the multiverse conceptual design of infinite multiple times lines/universe. I think we’ll see a sort of pocket plane universe featuring Keaton’s Bruce Wayne as a mentor to Batgirl, and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl. But I think the Hamadverse plan to use Keaton as a sort of Nick Fury-like character who travels around between universes is being scrapped. This was going to be the prime universe but it’s not what Zaslav wants. So now it will be a pocket plane. We already have Reeves’ Batman universe standing alone (contractually, to allow independence and creative control). We’re getting a Joker sequel that is in its own standalone universe. There will still be “black label” films evidently.

Ben Affleck only bailed on playing Batman because of all the crap he was putting up with from WB during the Emmerich regime. Even with all that he didn’t really stop playing Batman! Despite saying he was “done” (paraphrasing) with the role he agreed to film scenes for ZSJL and he appears in a major role in the Flash! Ben Affleck has always supported Zack Snyder’s original vision. He reports Josstice League in particular was a horrible experience for him, and that’s what evidently soured him on continuing in the role. It also evidently contributed to his alcohol relapse at the time. Reportedly Affleck had asked the other JL actors to join him in staging a walkout! But they weren’t in the position career-wise to do that. Anyway, the reasons for Ben wanting to leave the role are gone—and soon will be completely with Walter Hamada moving on. Definitely Emmerich‘s departure removes an enormous obstacle to Ben being able to do what he wants to if he is invited to make his solo Batman film.

But otherwise WB has a problem with what to do about Batman as it reshapes and rebuilds the existing franchise around the bones of what Snyder, Ayer, Jenkins, Wan, and Sandberg have provided. Pattinson is remaining in his own continuity. Hiring a new actor to replace Ben Affleck may not be the best solution available, since Batfleck is indeed an extremely popular Batman.

Imho the best solution is to woo Ben Affleck back to make his solo Batman film without interference. Announce release of the Ayer cut, which Ayer reports is very different than the film the studio reshot using the company that shot the music video style trailers. Reportedly the new head of WBD films Mike DeLuca had wanted to make the sequel to the Ayer cut. Announce that Henry Cavill will resume as Superman with MoS 2 and 3 and as Black Adam’s foe in BA2.

Over the next two years fans of DC will remain occupied with the sequel to The Batman, Aquaman 2, The Flash, Black Adam, and Batgirl. Fans will be looking forward to Henry Cavill’s return and hopefully he’ll start filming very soon. Hopefully Ben Affleck will agree to return as well, with filming beginning soon too. And if the Ayer cut of SS is actually quite good, then I think that helps restore confidence that the foundation that exists for the current DCEU is actually very workable to build from.

In two years if WBD and Snyder mutually decide that they’d like for Snyder to make JL 2 and 3, then there would definitely be strong interest in it. We’ll just have to wait and see how well Rebel Moon does, though.

Hate Snyder all you want call him a shallow aesthetic junkie with childish themes until you’re blue in the face but no other director name stays in the marketing limelight like he does and I think that matters for WB and for Hollywood in general.

Sure Marvel and Star Wars have the Russos, Filoni and Favreau but Snyder rivals and maybe even surpasses them in fan loyalty passions especially when Cavill and Affleck are attached to the narrative.

That attention certainly makes WB think at the very least his DCEU vision is worthy of a revisit.

That or i’m wrong about Zaslav and we’re getting a pregnant male Superman vs the Supreme Court Legion of Doom lol

That’s cause people spam the hashtag on social media. It’s not cause he’s a good director or anything. The amount of time I seen people do “events” to spam the Snyder hashtag so it can trend is insane.

I remember reading the report that the “biggest cheer” Oscar votes were HEAVILY driven by bots. The Academy denied it because it looked bad, but it was clear from their findings a massive amount of automated bot voting systems were set up.

Yup and everyone acted like it was a huge win. Honestly I thought it was funny 😂.

Man is Batman no longer a thing or what…
