Re: Gambit coming, but another's first

Hmm... How come SS can feature cigs in their statues? Wasn't that taboo with Marvel?
Personally, I don't care, however, it is an interesting indulgence as I believe Bowen can't do the same.

I wonder if this has something to do with SS being an online company where payments are made via credit card. The assumption being here that only adults make purchases with CCs so they're allowed to have statues with ciggies?

Thoughts?

Shhh... Don't let Marvel and Joe Q find out.

Yeah, we discussed this a few pages back. The cigs are likely the cause of the "MAX" imprint logo on the box and ads. But thats just a guess.

Re: Gambit coming, but another's first

Don't know if you noticed...but you can read "MAX product".

?

Re: Gambit coming, but another's first

Is Max product supposed to be rated R?
Does that mean this statue is rated R?

:D

Re: Gambit coming, but another's first

Good sculpt but not amazing.

The pose is pretty good, I think they chose one of the best poses possible.

The cigarette short-haired version looks badass and perfect, but the long haired version seems lacking in detail (probably due to the poor paint job). The hair on both look very well done.

The energy trail on the card is probably as good as it gets unless they add translucency/transparency or light up features. I kind of liked it.

The abdominal detailing is not bad but I don't like the color, I've always been more partial to his black or dark blue vest/top. His abdominal area and thighs are a bit too shiny for me but that's a taste thing and I'm probably in the minority.

I'm sure a lot of people will like this version because it conforms with most of Gambit's appearances but colors are too bright for me.

Overall, it is a pretty good sculpt and I agree much better than the wolvie but still short of specatacular and lacks eye poppage.

Re: Gambit coming, but another's first

Just noticed the short haired with cig has those stripe lines on the chest while the long hair doesn't. So the change-o-head actually extends to the upper half of the chest.

I'ts also missing the line of bars on the side of the legs. I wonder if its still there but being covered by his coat.

Yeah, the short hair is the Jim Lee version. I think once Joe Madureira took over he gave Gambit the long hair look and tweaked the outfit a bit.

Re: Gambit coming, but another's first

glad it comes with the short haired version 'cause I'm not digging the other.
