My WL converted. Fastest WL conversion. Only had to wait 3 days before i got the notification email. Now I hope Aragorn converts too.
What do you think my chances are?

Pretty good, next month right before shipping starts, more cancelations will come. You should be fine.

I have the Ex on order but may very well have to cancel.:( Unexpected medical bills plus several items shipping March - May have put it up for consideration. So, one of you hopefuls on the WL out there could pick it up.

I won't be too put out though; my GTG PF (Ex) is proudly displayed and is, to date, my favorite representation of my favorite character!

Try Flex paying for it. That will delay the shipping.

Plus we don't have a 30 day notice yet for GTG he could still well be a ways off. If you cancel obviously your medical bills are far more important.

I think it will be at least May before it ships. Wait till you get the notice then flex it.

Imagine displaying this maquette alongside this!

That's a Glamdring produced by the Weta swordsmith Pete Lyon (with mirror finish I believe). I have my Gandy PF displayed near my United Cutlery-made Glamdring. Beautiful to me as well!

The Gandy Ex has changed from 'Sold Out' to 'Pre-Order', with a Low Qty Alert of 30. I wonder if seeing how Aragorn/Strider turned out can push it to sell out again?

Interesting that it's back up. I would think that with how well Aragorn turned would help those 30 move quickly.

No doubt. Economically speaking, times are really tough right now and that seems to be effecting the sales of all lines and licences, but as the Aragorn reviews keep flooding in, I think it will be a real encouragement to those on the fence in regard to the maquette line. :lecture

Could be but gandalf already seems to some to be marginal, I think its fair to say the initial gut reaction to Aragorn was better than Gandalf (despite the hood vs unhood likeness issue). People seem to hate the Gandalf pose, and flowing cloaks. For me the real test is Arwen, that is the first "completists" piece for the maquette line, unlike the PF line which now has several completist pieces (GTW, Arwen, and likely 1-2 of the orcs).

But give me aragorn, gandalf, legolas, and gimli maquettes with a SSW sauron, original Balrog and maybe cave troll thrown in, a shake of Rivendell and Bag End with a couple of John Howe bronzes and you can call me a happy camper.

PF gollum (which I am leaning toward cancelling) and rumored ringwraith on steed PF are just gravy :)

And once Hobbit merchandising gears up and we can see either some serious interest in the original SSW pieces or some serious further price declines. 30 dollar original Legolas anyone? Is that possible?

No doubt, there are some who are bothered by the pose, but I don't think the number is all that high, nor do I believe it is a dealbreaker for most who actually intended to buy this statue in the 1st place. I could be wrong, but I think had SS released the Gandalf maquette before the PF this thing would be long sold out and few would even be mentioning the pose. Unfortunately [for the GTG maquette], Trevor absolutely nailed the Ian McKellan likeness on the PF and while the likeness of the maquette is excellent, it is not quite as good as the PF....and that IMO is the biggest reason it has not done as well. I think it also safe to say that not only are there a significantly larger number of SSW GTG statues floating around [as opposed to Aragorn], but those who do own the SSW Gandalf seem more likely to be content with it, thus less likely to add the SS maquette to their collections.

Arwen may well be biggest test to date, but seeing as Trevor was brought in to tweak the likeness I think people will be more than happy with the final product. As a result, I can see not only alot of those who don't own Arwen wanting this statue, but also many SSW Arwen owners wanting to upgrade what they have.

Is a $30 Legolas possible....absolutely. I paid $30 for one about 6 month's before SS announced the maquette line. Considering how awesome the maquette looks...I might have overpaid. :wink1:

Some good points you make about the GTG maquette Colin.

Myself, the maquette line is my chance to "start over". I solf off my entire collection a couple years ago. I always wanted to collect a LOTR line from the beginning. I tried the 12", and all it took was for me to get the Aragorn, for me to know I'm not into figures / dolls. The p.f. line is decent, just not my favorite.

This line is right up my alley and perfect for me. I'm looking forward to GTG next, Legolas, and hopefully ordering Gimli soon.

"I'm all in"

Yup... all excellent point and everything I was saying from just about the very beginning.

Only when I said it, I was branded some SS hater, troll, Weta zealot, etc, etc.

Truely, on just reading that, my jaw almost hit the floor :gah:
