Epic Games has filed three trademarks for something called Gears of War: Exile.

The filings, which were first spotted by Siliconera, are registered for "Video game software," "Series of computer game hint books and instruction manuals," and "T-shirts."

A logo for the trademark was also filed

While still unconfirmed, Gears of War: Exile could be the rumored Gears of War Kinect title that was supposed to debut at the Video Game Awards Show in December.

A Microsoft representative told IGN the company has "no news to share at this time" when asked about the trademark.

Earlier this morning, the Gears of War Triple Pack was announced for Xbox 360. The pack includes Gears of War, Gears of War 2 and the Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection.

If true, this will be a killer. The Kinect is already raping the Move in sales...this will only help to cement Microsoft's sales lead in this particular peripheral area, IMO.

If it's the Kinect game, they should've titled it:

Gears of War: Dance Around Like an Idiot

They definition of exile could bring up clues to plot

Exile means to be away from one's home (i.e. city, state or country), while either being explicitly refused permission to return and/or being threatened by prison or death upon return. It can be a form of punishment.

This could be the events that happened in the pendulum wars that lead up to Marcus being in prison at start of gears of war

ugh. I hope this will be non-kinect compatible... I'm not gonna buy the Kinect just to play one game...

Gears of War: Exile cancelled

Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski says unannounced franchise entry rumored to be on-rails Kinect game has been canned.
Gears of War: Exile will never be. Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski told GameSpot today that the rumored Kinect project is no longer in development at the Cary, North Carolina-based studio.

Gears of War: Exile is not going to see the light of day.
"Let's just bury the hatchet now," he said. "Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can't give any details about that has since been cancelled."

Little is known concerning Gears of War: Exile, but it was rumored to be an on-rails Kinect experience. Trademarks for the game were spotted in January 2011, and Xbox 360 World Magazine said the title was to be officially unveiled at the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo.
