Just playing metal gear rising, first level. Defeated Ray, was chasing sundowner through the rubble. But guess what? I beat him to the door that shuts down as you are running! He glitched and got caught on the ground. Then I had my fight #2 with Ray, he flung me in to an invisible building, and I laid in the air dead.

Good part about it, I caught it all while I was recording! I started after the shutter door came down that you slide under, I couldnt believe I ran past him. The invisible building glitch was a bonus im glad i kept recording. Its uploading now.

That's literally the first time either of those glitches has happened for me. But there is little nuances that I have noticed between the console and PC version that makes the console versions feel more polished. Id still overall say the Ps3 version is the best to play (unless the only things that matter are framerate and graphics)

been playing this for the past couple days having fun with it might pick up that HT figure now.

Good move. It's a short campaign, but there is tons of replay value in it.

I'll go out and say it's the best Metal Gear game last gen. This is what happens when Kojima becomes less and less involved and let someone else with fresh ideas take the reigns to create something truly unique. I'm almost done with the 100% on Ground Zeroes (hey, I want my moneys worth) but damn I'd rather play Rising any day. Even the ridiculous script had more charm than that "I wanna slit my wrist" omnipresent tone of MGSV.

I took several days to best this, because the Armstrong fight was so hard at first.
Flicking the parry button with your thumb and you'll have little issues with the combat. It's a refreshing take on counter attacking your enemies than having as\ single button to parry which mos sword combat games tend to do.

I dunno guys, the Big Boss saga has too many bloated writing and expositions. My friend pointed out on how much Raiden is just showing his true colors without moping on the "ooh my backstory is sooo tragic" "I fight because I am a gun" " "forsake our countries for a heaven where ice cream days are on Sundays" etc that (I can't believe I'm saying this) I think Raiden is my 2nd favorite protagonist now after Solid Snake. There, I said it. Burn the witch!

No doubt in my mind :exactly:

I was extremely worried on how it would be handled and how it would fit into the continuity of the series following MGS4. I guess technically it's uncanon, but I've grown to pretty much accept it as canon since it doesn't really tarnish anything that MGS4 left. I really liked how there was the one Codec convo between Raiden and Kevin and Raiden tells him he is a giant Snake fanboy :lol

I'm glad they don't allude to his probable death.

:goodpost: Quoted and bolded for truth. I love Bayonetta and I love MGS, and while it could have been bad, by god did they make it work. This game is still running in my mind, both for the sheer ridiculousness, charm and self-awareness it has all while maintaining that special Metal Gear feeling. I also rather liked the direction they took with Raiden's character here, and while some may disagree, I felt that it really made him into his own character that actually distinguished him as a stand-out protagonist of his own.

There's so much win in this post. But, yeah, Raiden has definitely become my second favorite character in MGS behind Solid Snake :lol :lecture. It's amazing, the sheer amount of character development he had in Rising. He has truly evolved from the whiny, emo-ridden douche into a complete badass that Snake would be proud of. I'm thoroughly looking forward to MG Rising 2.

I hated that they needed to shove in your face Big Boss's dilemma. Snake and Raiden always kept to themselves, and it's up to you to figure that out yourselves. Snake obviously has PTSD and Raiden is trying to redeem himself from being a child soldier. He fights for what he believes is right and I think he yelled at Armstrong on how he didn't know how it was to grow up poor and hungry. Riaden himself was a civilian who could have lived a normal life until Solidus killed his parents. Heroic. Relatable.

Big Boss should have turned into the mad dictator years ago but instead he's the misunderstood hero, banging the A.I pod of the "boss" begging for answers. There is no resolution in war, people die a much dishonorable death than The Boss, deal with it. It's like a soap opera now.

Aww don't be like that. I'll admit I do have a soft spot for Big Boss but then again, even after PW (and I'm telling you, I've been replaying the main campaign recently) I find his answers much more villainous than some people seem to be taking it here. I love him for the villain he is and he will be, and I don't think they've been THAT indulgent in their writing his story as a tragic hero. Personally I see him more as tragic villain, in which yes the very circumstance of his role is really tragic, but it doesn't change the fact that he's come to adopt the mindset and mentality of a villain. Seriously. where Strangelove found peace in knowing about the truth behind The Boss's tortured life, Big Boss felt betrayed and literally claims he won't be bossed around like her. That honestly surprised me because I view it less as "misunderstood hero" and more like a huge setup for a villain (which is why I'm surprised why people keep calling him a tragic hero when even he makes it clear he took the wrong path by the end of MGS4).

Opinions and interpretations of his words may vary for some, but it's clear that the stuff Big Boss says by the end of PW isn't treated as the right thing at all, and can even come across as being villainous considering his warmonger-like tone, and the fact that it's not even directed Cipher/Zero itself but towards the world says more about him than his seeming cause to overthrow The Patriots. He makes it clear that he doesn't want to be like The Boss which is enough indication for me how far he's fallen even before MGSV comes in. In that regard, I feel it's actually becoming hard to relate to him especially by the end of PW, and it's that sense of alienation that feel just about right in terms of characterizing him into the eventual antagonist he will become.

Snake and Raiden always kept to themselves, and it's up to you to figure that out yourselves. Snake obviously has PTSD and Raiden is trying to redeem himself from being a child soldier. That said I agree, I LOVED that exchange between Raiden and Armstrong, especially that line about his upbringing of living in poverty and how Armstrong never knew how it felt to be forced to kill just to survive. Probably most favorite line from the game too. :clap

Raiden is my second favourite character. And im talking the MGS2 version *Shock Horror!*.
He became a badass by the end of MGS2, he had a great character arc

I'd definitely say I like Raiden now a whole lot more than Big Boss as my second favorite protagonist. The more pre-sequels that are made, the more I find him less and less interesting.

If we can ignore PW and all (MGS 3 is fine though, taken on its own that could explain Big Boss's fall from heroism well) I think Boss is all right. But I really want him and Solid Snake to be separate. Not totally the same. Looks can work, but make them different. I'm fine with Raiden but I still can't get over how much of a nerd he was in MGS 2. That took me out of the game and ruined it at times.

Though personally I tend to find MGS 2 Raiden fanboys to be quite odd, especially with how much they hate post-MGS 2 Raiden

I like post MGS2 Raiden. I think people that don't, find turning him into a ninja is a cop-out and slightly undermines his development in MGS2.

I, like everyone else, didn't like that I was Raiden for most of MGS2 and was hoping for a switch back. But he proves himself by the end. I also liked his being more light hearted than Snake, and showing a more human reaction to the madness going on

He feels like more of a person now than he ever did. He was all dark and brooding in MGS4, but I loved him in MGR.

I honestly enjoyed him in MGS2 (no lie), but his dark and brooding personality in MGS4 felt a bit much, and I didn't like how part of it was brought on by some misunderstanding. Which is why I do like his development in MGR, because it feels like it's the same person from MGS2 except actually much more grown up and developed as his own character all while referencing his past experiences in previous games.

Yeah MGS4 felt like a new character, MGR did feel more like the Raiden of old.
