Re: NBA 2012-2013

Bosh seems afraid of contact.

It's a shame because I really liked Bosh as a player before he came to the Heat. he kinda had a rivalry with Howard and it was fun watching him take it right at Dwight when they would play each other...he was much more fearless then. The system in Miami has just turned him into such a pansy.

How about this stat:

@EthanJSkolnick: Since LeBron signed in Miami, the Heat are 17-1 in a series after falling behind in that series. Only loss to Dallas in G6 of 2011 Finals.

My observation of sports in general is that there are different kinds of athletes. Some are hungry. They either want a better contract, or they're driven to prove something (like the Kobes and Lebrons of the world). Others get satisfied and sit on their laurels. It seems to happen in baseball a lot, and this seems to have happened with Bosh from what I can tell. Unless he's had some kind of major injury I'm not aware of, or has just declined dramatically in his physical abilities for some other reason, I think he's just happy with where he is and what he has achieved, and doesn't feel a strong need to really do more than he is doing. I can relate to that mentality honestly, but when you're an athlete on a professional team it's not usually looked on kindly.

Went down 1-0 to healthy bulls in 2011. Won 4 in a row. Went down 2-1 to healthy pacers in 2012. Won 3 in a row. Went down 3-2 to celtics in 2012. Won 2 in a row. Went down 1-0 to OKC in 2012 finals. Won 4 in a row. Went down 1-0 to bulls this year. Won four in a row. You can downplay that all you want but so it at your own peril

meh most of those teams were either too young (Pacers, Thunder), too old, really old actually (Celtics). I'll give you credit for the Bulls there, Chicago had a helluva team. But when challenged by a complete, experienced, healthy team they have shown the abilty to fold (Mavs and maybe Spurs). Unlike ANY top 10 great that has come before him, LeBron has a substantially losing record in the Finals. He can only play the "I don't have enough help" card so much. At some point he needs to take ownership that maybe his best just isn't good enough.

It's just game 1, we can pull random stats until we get blisters, Spurs have great stats for and against them and Heat have great stats for and against them. Let's let it play out then we will know what happens this Finals which is all that really matters.

All I know, Spurs stole one IN MIAMI. They will likely lose game 2 but then we have 3 at home after so the Spurs have put themselves ina great position which is all I can ask for.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

LeBron again needs to tAke shots in those crucial moments rather than kick it to Bosh for a three.

I think that last shot was irrelevant. They were down 4 with such little time left. A 2 does them no good since they would have to foul with the Spurs shooting free throws on the other end.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

It's game one. I think it's a little early to make much of anything. I do love some of the self convincing going in though. I pray that the Spurs win though. :rock

Re: NBA 2012-2013

I just think it's ridiculous that LeBron (and the fans and media) expects his teammates to be great 100% of the time in order for him to win. All greats find a way to overcome their team's short comings in order to win. LeBron is the only exception. He needs to find a way to get past his slumping teammates and win.

But of course when his team steps up and makes him look good, he gets all the credit. When he wins it his credit, when he loses, it's his team's fault. He's the only great that gets away with this madness.

To be fair you're going to give him and the team a pass no matter what. So it works out in the wash I guess. :lol

Is a triple dub what the team needed though? Maybe in the first 3 but in the 4th quarter he needed to score, he needed to take over, he needed to cement his legacy as one of the greats. Instead he did what he usually does. He defers when his team was clearly struggling to score in the 4th. Heat only scored 16 4th quarter points (and only 20 in the 3rd) and LeBron took only THREE SHOTS in the 4th quarter. For a 4 time MVP? Not acceptable in my book. Not in the Finals. Not a statement game the Heat needed to make to set the tone for the rest of the playoffs.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

Just came out today on Dan Patrick Show...I don't know if LeBron would be "average" but it was definitely a different game back then...I think LeBron would just have developed his game differently than it is today...

Dennis Rodman: LeBron James Would Be 'Average Player' If He Played In 80s, 90s

Dennis Rodman doesn't think very highly of LeBron James.

During an interview on "The Dan Patrick Show" that aired on Friday, Rodman was asked about whether James can be compared to Michael Jordan.

"It's really not a comparison. I'm just saying. If LeBron was playing in the late 80's and the early 90's, he would be just an average player," Rodman said. "But to do what Michael has done. I mean, dude, seriously?"

Here are some other claims Rodman made:

He would have "no problem" guarding LeBron if he was 20-years-old playing today.

If Michael Jordan played today at 28-years-old, he would "average 40 points a game or probably more."

His Bulls teams would beat this year's Heat team and he would take Bosh "easy."

Like many of his contemporaries, Rodman believes the game was more physical during Jordan's run.

"LeBron came into the age of the game at a perfect time. Michael came into the game when, guess what, when he was in the game... back then you could hit people, you could hit people, knock'em down, take a free throw and get back up. LeBron? No, he can't do that. All they do today is *****ing. *****ing about a foul. All they do is *****," said Rodman.

Now all we need is for Rodman and Karl Malone to have a discussion about the greatest players of all time and let us listen.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

I'm no Lebron fan, but Rodman is out of his mind. . .as if everyone didn't already know that :lol

I think one of Lebron's real problems in the 4th was that he was tired. He said he had to take himself out of the game at some point (end of 3rd or beginning of 4th?) because he was drained. Then they had him defending Tony Parker at the end, which is the hardest defensive assignment for the Heat. Apparently Spoelstra decided he needed Lebron defending more than scoring at the end of the game. Maybe he did, but there are consequences to that kind of decision.

All of this conversation is moot if Bosh hits the WIIIIIIIDE open three he missed and/or Parker takes a 100th of a second longer to shoot that miracle shot. It is what it is. I'm not taking anything away from any players. I don't understand the constant need Jstep feels to take away from LeBron.... the guy is above your criticisms. He made the RIGHT basketball plays. He was triple teamed and kicked it out to a guy who was 50% from 3 in the playoffs.
