Just get the MPC model kit that was released in the 70s and 80s. Not my pictures, but it gives you an idea what it looks like built with a good paint job. I think it might even be 1/6.

Looks nice. There is someone doing new domes for him as well as other R2 unit domes. R5, R7 etc. Forget who it was ATM.
