I'm not sure either. I thought these were just based on the animated concept like their OT SW animated series. Didn't realize there was an animated series, feature, or something planned.

I haven't heard anything about an animated LotR project. And if there is none planned I really don't see what this line is supposed to do except create weird looking statues.

There are no plans for animated LOTR. Like the upcoming original trilogy Star Wars animated maquettes, these are just done in a certain style, how they would look IF they were to be animated.

looks pretty nice to me. i really dig how Gentle Giant is trying this new animated style to some of the movie lines. im a SW collector myself, and i really love the couple animated maquettes that i have. so if you are a LOTR collector and want to try something different i recommend looking into these. (i wonder how Frodo will look??)

I really like the stylized design of these. GG keeps doing nice work. It'd be nice if they'd tell who their artist are like SS does.

I have to say I don't like it. There's something off about it, maybe it's those ridiculous eyebrows. Anyway, not getting it and not impressed, thank goodness for the sake of my bank account. I don't have much room left, so it has to be killer from now on for me to get it. Hope GG comes out with something better.
