i think the original figure IS cut off sleeves & has just been misinterpreted...
i think the middle one (outline) would look good in a darkish blue/grey...

Just to be clear Scifi, I'm not trying to step in on your turf or anything, if you don't want me doing tattoos I won't touch Gung-Ho or Shipwreck, I don't want to be that guy. I just wasn't aware you were selling them.

I plan on offering all my GI JOE tattoos and patches for sale, so everyone can have which ever style the want. I've sold a couple of the EG&A already just gathering picture of everything install/applied before I open up a sales thread.

Thanks SE171!:hi5:

Sleeveless shirt sure would be easier to find, what comic is that from Ross?

No worries Hunter, pick your artwork and we'll let the freaks buy the ones that they like. I made my patches and tattoos as I needed them for figures I'm building and wanted to share (sell) them with whoever liked/needed them.

Alrighty, no harm, no foul. We'll just both do our own things and people can pick whatever. Plus hey, a little competition never hurt. ;)

i just wanna add im not trying to cause trouble either!
for a figure accurate tattoo i think slightly darker than the top one out of your designs but the reason it was that simple is because of the limitations of such a small scale so maybe add just a little more detail to fit the 1/6 scale?

Right. I'm definitely retooling Ho's tattoo to be more detailed, but I'm going to stick with the shape for Shipwreck, if not only because I think his original tattoo is so iconic, just need to fix the color to be a bit more realistic. yeah, shipwrecks tattoo works, maybe just a slightly greyer blue, a bit darker?
did the original have a shark on the other arm?

just noticed they are both the same arm... :slap
didnt remember him having more than one... i take it this was just an alternate version?
i remember Shipwreck (i think) shouting "hold on to your tattoos" in one of the early episodes... there is no way a kids cartoon now would even mention tattoos!

I'd like to respectfully disagree. I always felt the original was a flak vest. Many of the early Joes had a very Vietnam era style to them, due to the time (early 80's). I think Gung Ho was modeled after the soldiers who wore no shirts under their flak vests.

Maybe the figure was, the cartoon on the other hand was a shirt.
As far as 1/6 version goes unless you can find a vest with NO padding & that is too small a sleevless shirt is the only way to make it look right open.

I agree, the cartoon seemed more like a cut off shirt. On my custom, I did take the padding out. No real way to make the vest smaller, but I think it looks pretty good open. There are pics of my custom on here, I'm at work so I can't post them now, but I will later.

Yeah, de-padding would help! Its the collar & pockets in the cartoon that make it more shirt like.
