If he gives you a Rocketeer vibe he should because Walt Disney Pictures took a few of the conceptuals and the this serial to create that film.

I can't wait to see this figure. Go Hero is really plucking my heart strings with their releases!!

Also, The Rocketeer was created by Dave Stevens, who was inspired by the '30s serial like Commando Cody. Disney bought the film rights from Dave and made the film.

If anyone hasn't seen this series, it's a must own. The art and stories are top notch. Unfortunately, Dave passed away last year, but he left an amazing canon of work.

Like I said over at the OSW, the Go Hero stuff sure looks nice, but they seem to be starting off on the expensive end of the market for a new company doing licenses that shouldn't be as expensive as the modern day ones.

Yeah, but the details added to the figures and low numbers make up for some of the price. Even if the license is cheaper, no way they could have a wooden box, glass helmet, die-cast details, LED rocket pack etc. for under $100.

As long as the production figure delivers and is up to the prototype level for Buck I will be satisfied.

I agree with galactiboy, it's all about the details with these figures. They have built in mp3 players to play the old radio shows for gosh sakes!!!

I knew this was coming and kept it under my helmet. :D

We should see proto pics at Comic Con NY. It will have a radio transmitter on the belt as seen in "Zombies of the Stratosphere".

The helmet WILL flip up as well. These should also be available to purchase this year.

As most of you know there were three serialized Series, each with different actors. Wallace was probably best known, but I actually prefer the G-Man Larry Martin look in Zombies as pictured.

This will be a Collector's item, no doubt.

So as far as Wallace likeness rights, there may be some snags. I'm not sure which Human likeness we'll get. Steve was still playing around with accessories and maybe having the rockets light up. Steve is also friends with Bob Burns, who supplied detailed pics of the dial and other elements of the outfit (which Bob has in his basement). We may also see a huge cannon gun for shooting down those pesky rockets so stay tuned. :D

While I slipped on on the Rocketeer Trivia, I do know that Commander Cody was named as a throwback to Lucas's love for this character.

That is really cool news... he mentioned Cody when I spoke to him, but glad to see its going to happen.

But even more exciting, is that shot of the Cyclops head sculpt! Man, that is going to be one huge mamma-jamma!!! I don't know how much it will cost, but I think I will have to find a way to buy it if at all possible; a 1/6 Cyclops will be too cool to resist :lecture

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT: Go Hero and Executive Replicas are bringing you the next figure in a line of classic icons! 1:6 Commando Cody! "Ol' Bullet Head" is one of the great heroes and influential designs coming from the movie serial era of the 1940s and having his own TV show in the 1950s. Commando Cody rocketed away on many adventures with several actors donning that unmistakable helmet. This amazing design inspired the likes of George Lucas who created, among other things, a character named Commander Cody! Also directly influenced was one of our favorite artists Dave Steven's, creator of the Rocketeer. (YES...I have the AWESOME Medicom V2!) This figure is in development NOW and we are giving it the high-end treatment. If all goes according to plan, (fingers crossed), We will have a Work in Progress ready by NYCC! Full features and product description coming soon!

This is gonna be soooooooo cool!
I wonder if there'll be metal parts, helmet etc. I have a strong feeling that for all those of us who love retro Sci-Fi and steam punk this is THE manufacturer to watch. Steve has some great ideas, and the quality looks top notch. I pray this crap state the economy is in lets all this work out for him, companies like this deserve a lot of support.

This will be a rare instance where I'll order 2 Figs. One to display, the other to keep boxed.

I've got their first two figures on order... pretty sure I'll get this one as well. And I'm very interested in the Cyclops.
