Yeah the destruction mechanics in the game look terrible and you can't target the helicopters above..but like you I am still gonna buy it lol

Revisiting G14 today, his introduction at the airport, atomic breath build up and Muto decapitation at the end remain crazy epic and I would argue that these 3 scenes make the movie not only worth watching but also stack up very favorably against other great moments throughout his history.

My son loves traditional Godzilla, especially his battles with Kiryu, but even he now is starting to comprehend the differences between man in suit and large CGI Godzilla, especially with scale and destruction.

The airport reveal easily stands as one of the best intros in a Godzilla movie, and it's nice to see them take influence from the past films. Despite being a man in a suit, the cinematographer on Godzilla 1984 really understood how to use the camera to give a sense of his size. Starting at ground level in a view common to man and realizing you're only seeing a foot and then panning up slowly taking in how massive this creature is really has an impact. The intro reveal in 84 is one of my most favorite shots in the movie, same goes for 2014, even once you have seen it and know what he looks like, it doesn't lose impact, the lighting and framing are perfect, moonlight on one side, fire glow on the other, both highlighting all his texture and armor just right, and the angry expression on his face as it's first revealed is one of my absolute favorite images of him from the movie.

My only let down with NECA's figure is I wish I had an expressive face like that or at least swap out heads.

Well, looks like I'm too late to the party to build a Destroy All Monsters display after all (unless they do rereleases).

But if anyone has a lead on a 25cm Rodan '64, I'd appreciate it.

My kids are obsessed with G14 and probably watch it once a week. They asked if they could see whatever the most recent Godzilla movie was before G14 and so I recorded the Emmerich version for them (I guess I forgot about Godzilla 2000 and Final Wars or whatever.) They started watching it but said that he looked like an "ugly dinosaur" and asked me to turn it off during the part when the helicopters were chasing him through the city. Not even an action sequence could hold their interest!

That's the thing, Godzilla '98 behaves like an animal, despite being a living thing, Toho never depicted Godzilla like an animal and I think that's clear when kids can spot that. Godzilla behaves like a human, when he first meets the MUTO in Honolulu his stance and expression are like a human squaring off for a fight.

Yeah, it's clear that Emmerich wanted to make a Jurassic Park film, not Godzilla. Basically we got a big T-Rex and then later some velociraptors running around New York.

It's funny, Heisei Godzilla in that shot is supposed to be the biggest the monster has ever been and yet his scale to those cows makes him look smaller than the '54.

Nope. Unless you're perspective blind, it looks perfectly fine.

Also, here's 120 meters tall Ushiku Daibutsu. Doesn't look that big here too.

I need some assistance. I received my x plus 89 Godzilla figure today. I noticed that the lower jaw can move up or down. Is it supposed to do this? I thought all x plus g figures are not posable. They're like statutes. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

That is a feature found only on a small handful of figures. Biollante and Mechagodzilla '74 have a moveable jaws as well. There are a few random features and articulation points throughout the line, but in general they are static poses.

They're reissuing the X-Plus 25cm Anguirus. I have a hunch they'd be reissuing most of the Destroy All Monsters cast in 25 cm scale. ????????? ???????1968???? ????????

They're also rereleasing Gamera 99 with a new burning hand light up feature in polystone instead of vinyl. ??????????????? PLUS ?????1999?? ?????????
