I believe they’re doing a Shin Godzilla with EX Hobi, perhaps there is something going on. It’s certainly strange for them to be seemingly the only company not to unveil a product from the movie.

As I've started to look around at Godzilla collectibles coming off the resurgence of my love for him after minus one, I'm now wondering what my first actual Godzilla experience was. I've been convinced for years that it was the 1954 original or the 1962 vs. Kong. Looking at the collectibles, I think it might be the 1972 vs. Gigan. There are so many cool collectibles out there and I'm considering a lineup of 1954, 1972, 1984, 1991, KoM and minus 1 at a small enough scale to not take up too much room. There seem to be a couple of options.

Curious what folks on here view as their "first Godzilla"...

For me, I was never actually interested in Godzilla before I saw Shin.
Even then, the first time I saw Shin Godzilla's design I was like.. what's with that scrawny sickly burnt Godzilla?

But then after I saw the movie, I was like.. this is Godzilla! I felt the horror.. and then I read the concept.. of atomic bomb victims, etc.
I fell in love with Shin, and started collecting the collectibles.. and also bought the gigantic 54 for the sake of respecting the original.

Okay thanks man. I got burned by Open Vault Collectibles, they went out of business and I never got refunded, etc. So now when I order from Spiral and they don't respond to three emails, I start to think the same thing is happening again...I guess I'll just have to wait it out and hope for the best...
Yikes. I'm sorry to hear about that. Spiral doesn't seem to answer my emails either. I don't know if it's a language thing or what. But so far, I have received Burning Godzilla, Ghidorah, Mothra Larva, and Godzilla 2001 directly from them with no issues other than massive delays. Shipping usually takes about 2 months (I choose the cheapest shipping, which is slow boat). They send out shipping emails and give FedEx tracking numbers, which don't actually start working until the package arrives in the U.S. Good luck with your purchases.

I'm almost certain it was King Kong vs. Godzilla. It was definitely the first one I had on VHS. I think I liked King Kong first and then found Godzilla w/ that movie and went from there.

I know King of the Monsters and vs Megalon were some of my earliest, but it's been 36 years, my memory is a little fuzzy. I do know I got introduced by a Saturday morning movie program called Creature Double Feature that often showed Godzilla films.

I’d have to go with King Kong vs Godzilla. I was a big Kong fan as a child. This movie changed everything for me. After that, my dad showed me Godzilla KOTM and my aunt introduced me to the Showa era. After that, I was hooked. I’d say from age 4 and up, Godzilla has consistently been my number one hero and spirit animal.

My first film was Godzilla 1984, although my favourite as a young child was unquestionably Godzilla vs Megalon. When I was a little older and saw the original Gojira for the first time, that was definitely when the lifelong hooks were set in me, love the camp, but the serious films will always be my favourites.

It's a great looking figure of the Cybot, unfortunately, I can't justify spending more than $30 on a Cybot figure, I love the '84 suit, the Cybot not so much, just more nostalgia for its use in the movie.

However, X-Plus releasing an old sculpt from MONSTER MAKER 28 makes me wonder if we might see X-Plus release this MM28 sculpt.

Totally agree. I can’t justify buying a Cybot X-Plus. I would have never guessed that they’d make one either.

Its been a while since I've picked up X-Plus product, but this seems like the place to ask. My partner and I want whatever gigantic figure they put out for Minus One (it seems like a no brainer they would) but the merch seems to be rolling out much more slowly than it did for Shin, anyone know where is good to keep on top of new releases like that these days?

I think a cybot x-plus is real cool but I also can't really justify the price for a design that isn't my favorite. I do like it, but..not for that much.
What is a cybot
For that godzilla movie, in addition to having a suit actor, they also built a large animatronic for the first time. They called it the Cybot. It looked a bit different than the suit version.

Here it is without its skin:
