Awesome so the only way to get this is through foreign stores? No bigbadtoystore? It also looks more like the gmk godzilla.
That's because the gmk godzilla looks like the concept version of 1954, which this is.

Before the suit was made this is what 1954 looked like.

There is no reason BBTS won't carry this. I also checked Amiami and they have the regular version on their site (no base). It usually takes a few days for all the sites to get their pre-orders up. I would think Monday for BBTS.

Greetings everyone, I just discovered this forum and this is my first post. It's kinda funny in that I'm desperately trying to downscale my massive collection of Godzilla models/figures before leaving the continent - U.S. - and yet I'm seriously considering getting one of the X-plus 1954 Zilla Train figures with the base! I don't have a lot of X-plus stuff, but this one looks outstanding.

I haven't had time to delve into this huge thread yet, but it looks like a great resource. Is there much discussion regarding resin and vinyl models, or is it more figure based? I primarily collect models, most of which comes directly from collectors, dealers, and auctions out of Japan. I also have some good direct relationships with sculpturs and finishers from Japan, and that goes a long ways when searching for really rare pieces.

Anyway, no need to ramble on. Look forward to posting more, especially once I get moved and situated. Cheers!

Welcome. Nice to see another model collector. Whereas the thread deals mostly with toys and finished figures, models are certainly a topic of discussion. At the very least, I'd be interested in everything you have to say. I've got a huge model collection. There are some pictures in here somewhere of many of them. If you've got some hard to find stuff, let me throw this out there. Do you have the KOC Aqua Mothra and would you be willing to sell it? Look forward to your input.

In my experience, most of the best Godzilla collectibles have been models, either vinyl or resin. My most favorites I own are old Kaiyodo 8" vinyls, wish they were bigger but the sculpts and poses are amazing, Sakai work of course.

That Sakai 2002 is glorious, looks better than the suit in the movie while still looking like the suit in the movie.

I agree wholeheartedly. He captured the suit at its absolute best because it rarely looks that imposing in the movie.

It's why I love Sakai, I feel like with Godzilla, a lot of sculptors either can nail suit accuracy with fairly boring poses, or they come up with poses that do a good job of capturing his attitude and such, but don't look quite the same as the suit. Sakai is one of the rare ones to capture a special personality in his poses while making the fine details spot on.

Edit 3: Apparently the Kaiser Ghidorah and Godzilla 55 are kits and not x-plus. Still not sure about biollante.

God it looks amazing. Apparently around the same height as the burning godzilla as well since the kit was 48 cm tall.
Also Xplus Kaiser Ghidorah

Edit again: New Godzilla 55 and Biollante?!?

Yep...even though relatively, Sakai is rather sculpterly in his execution vs some other very precisely skin textured godzillas, it pretty much matches the suit bit for bit and captures the character as if he was the originator....only one other GMK Godzilla did this for me and it was an urban style m1 figure, similar to the marmits, but that was only because it was sculpted by the suit sculptor himself!

55 Godzilla and Kaiser Ghidorah are Gow Row kits.
