Well this arrived yesterday and i have to say i like it alot. Beautiful detailing on the sculpt and clothing and the base looks great too. But it still does not look like EWood.:D

Also for some reason the sculptors name is not on the base??

Why would anyone not want to proudly announce that he sculpted this masterpiece, I wonder?

Did they put who sculpted Lurtz on the bottom of that?

We know Matt Falls sculpted it. He did a pretty fine job overall. It might not be perfect but it is a good sculpt.

I finally pulled the trigger on this one when I got my tax refund. I hope I feel the same when I see him myself.

I must check the previous recent releases but its certainly not written on the base. Maybe its on the box.

Be nice :nono Maybe SS realized there would be so many people re-sculpting and re-painting their Frodo's they decided to leave the bottom of the base blank so people can put their own names there :rotfl

Mine arrived a couple of weeks ago. I like it. It's grown on me as well since it arrived.

Got mine last week and let me say that if there is anyone out there sitting on the fence about this one, just go and buy it NOW!!! It is a really nice statue and looks 50 times better in person. I think in time this will increase in value and there may be a lot of sorry collectors out there who woulda, coulda and defintiely shoulda when he's sold out!!!:rotfl :D :lol

I got mine a few weeks ago, and I decided to send him back. The paint aps and costume are about as good as any I've seen, but it just wasn't worth the $250 I paid to get it direct. It's just too small, plus the generic sculpt with the weird mouth just kills it for me. I never thought I'd hear myself say it, but if you're sure you want this, you might want to go through eBay (or a dealer? not sure if this was a SS exclusive). They seem to be going for around $160 - $200, which is a much more appropriate price in my opinion. I'm out $20 shipping, but I think that'd be better than letting this thing take up space for something I'll like better, plus it's more incentive to get rid of Lurtz since I know I'm not going to be completing this line--time to thin the herd again. I can see this one being on second chance for a while.

It's overpriced IMO. I paid $200 and think that was too much.

It does look like Wood to me and is a good piece.

Not the best but good.

I have him boxed up until more members of the Fellowship are released.

I had originally purchased mine from SS and after tax and shipping it came to $278 - fortunately (ironic in this case) it was damaged and I returned it. I was able to find one for $165 shipped, much better.

I agree. Overtime this piece will be very sought after.

I seriously think you might be over-estimating the long term value of this piece. When you hear of die-hard LOTR collectors opening the box, then deciding to ship it back to SS you have to wonder.....still time will tell...one way or the other.

I know one thing I certainly wouldn't do, that's buy an extra one to sell later on. There are alot of people who love this piece, and I think there's also people who have grudgingly bought it in hopes of collecting the entire "fellowship" or at the very least the hobbits. Since this seem to be a good 10-12 years [ I know....this may be a tad optimistic! :naughty ]down the road, I certainly wouldn't want to tie up any of my money. :D

Well, this is one Die Hard LOTR fan that won't be sending theirs back. I doubt too many others will either.
