Im posting here cause it wont let me put this in the review thread for some reason. I got my life size Iron man bust today from SS...and I gatta say.............im not to impressed. It cost me $350+ just to get it here, let alone what I paid for it....now im scratching my head wondering why I bought it. Although the dimentions are pretty good, the over all finish isnt so great. The paint job is very blotchy...some areas are darker than others with an uneven serface texture. Their is even a 4" X 2" surface portion inside the neck that ISNT EVEN PAINTED!...its just grey....how do you miss that??..."hello quality control". Looks like a very cheap paint job. The overall weight of the bust is pretty heavy, which is nice...I was expecting something very light for something so big. Theirs 2 silver metal neck pieces on the bust I assumed from the pictures when I ordered it...were going to be chrome or some kind of metal. Not the case...looks like their just 2 peices of plastic painted silver (pretty cheap, in my opinion). You can also see many parts on the bust where it looks like someone ran their finger through wet paint....theirs streaks everywhere. For something so big with such a large surface area...it should be very easy to keep a smooth consisten paint surface and color. Its almost like they got a 10 year old to paint this thing. The one thing I will say however, is that the light up eyes are pretty cool. They keep a very consistent brightness through out the eyes. Oddly, I was expecting the eyes to be the cheapest made and the rest of the bust to be high quality...I guess I had it backwards.
I got a T2 life size bust on the way soon also, im a little nervous now....after seeing the quality on this thing im wondering if it's worth giving them another shot. I'll try to post some pics later on....

Better than buying it off eBay to save some money because you may not have a return policy there.

Judging from the title of this thread I was expecting a lot of Praise obout this Piece, I wasn't expecting this at all, That sux that it's not what you expected.

Post some pics when you get a chance.

If you bought it directly from Sideshow, you can contact them for a replacement.

Its not worth it if for me to send it back...I live in Ontario Canada. It cost me $250 at the door in customes charges + $110 shipping. To go through the headache to get a replacment and have it sent back out I would be spending another $360....thats $720 total...at that cost I could buy 2 of these things just with customs and shipping fees alone. If I were going to send it back it would only be for a refund. Which sucks....cause I was really hoping to have this as a nice centre piece in my theatre room. I was really let down with the quality of this thing.
I have a huge collection of 1/12 scale AutoArt model cars, the quality on those is INSANE!...if you could blow them up 12X they could pass as the REAL thing. I would imagine parts on those cars are much harder to paint and manipulate than this life size bust. Yet, the quality seen on this bust in my years of collecting is sub-standard. Is this bust worth the money...NOT A CHANCE!....the MSRP of $699.99 for this thing is just ridiculous. I'd say a fair price for what I see infront of me should have been $300-$400 MAX!

you wouldn't be asked to send it back you would be asked to destroy it. Shipping is just too much.

See, this is EXACTLY what I was afraid of.... Seems like there are a LOT of paint issues with this.... IT'S PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD!!!! Big smooth surfaces to paint. What's the problem?!?!?! This is why I'm really debating whether or not I wanna deal with the hassle of taking the chance and possibly (almost guaranteed) to have to send this back for a replacement.... :nono

...and tell your country to stop taxing you on buying goods from other countries....that's old school. :monkey1

They should've hired some car painters to handle this item.

HA! I live in Ontario Canada too, I was actually thinking of getting this when it was first released but thought shipping and customs and border fee's would be insane, looks like I was right.

As for Autoart, i have a huge collection as well, along with Kyosho, and some exoto and BBR...I agree these are so Detailed they really do make you appreciate the quality that is put into them, but then again they are far from cheap (hotwheels)

such a shame i can only afford one big purchase a year and i wanted this so badly!!!! too scared to make the purchase at that price point..

Mine is acceptable. Not too bad in the neck area, I wish I could afford two.
A War Machine mod would be so easy and look so cool. I hope someone does it, I would love to see that!

You won’t have to ship it back you destroy it and send them pictures, they cover the cost of shipping another one to you, and you won’t get dinged for customs twice since you already paid (you show them proof). There is no excuse for you not to take advantage of the exchange policy you will be losing no money. I know this because I live in Canada as well.

we need pics in this thread.

Im uploading them to my pc as I write this..give me 10 minutes...

I collect mostly 1/12 scale, I got alot of AutoArt, CMC, kyosho, Tamiya and Exoto models. All of which have mind blowing attention to detail in them...the paint jobs in some cases are better than the actual car. This Iron man bust looks like it was painted with a spray can. I mean the chest plate (which should be a very easy FLAT piece to paint) has some concave parts you can make out at different angels. SS....have you guys ever heard of primer!
