sounds like everyone must hire a professional painter on this one...and redo it with clear coating as the finishing touch.

a replacement from Sideshow makes no difference as I highly doubt you'll find a PERFECT Iron Man bust. If you want perfect, then a pro painter is necessary. I wonder how much they would charge.....maybe $200?

Pictures as promised....
In the full bust shots you can see the paint texture is very dull and patchy. Some areas darker than others, I apologize for the quality of some pictures. I used my blackberry storm cause I dont have a hand held camera, it has a 3.2 megapixel camera so I figured it should be alright.
In some close up shots you can see where they painter could bairly stay within the lines of the mask with black paint and surrounding areas. In one picture you can even make out a black paint on the underside of the mouth peice as well as some of the gold paint SMUDGED like someone ran their finger through it by accident....its all over the bust when you look up close. Anyway judge for yourselves...

Couple more....
In the second one (you cant see it that well) the whole inner part of the neck is missing paint....its just grey. Like they totally over looked that very obvious part. Thats the first thing that hits you as soon as you look at it....the more I look at the more I hate this thing.

that would cost at least 600-700 for a whole redo. i would just recommend not picking one up unless u have seen pics of the real thing, not just production pix......like what i plan to do :D

I want to cancel mine now :(...don't want it...especially for 700

i'll be charge a cancellation fee.. darn.

You won’t have to ship it back you destroy it and send them pictures, they cover the cost of shipping another one to you, and you won’t get dinged for customs twice since you already paid (you show them proof). There is no excuse for you not to take advantage of the exchange policy you will be losing no money. I know this because I live in Canada as well.

^^ sounds like good advise^^

you can also look into how much it will cost to get it professionally repainted and get a partial discount from SS for the amount.

The statue looks fine......

from a distance.

Its hard to see some of the problems with this bust in the pictures, just because of the way the light reflects off certin parts. But trust me....if you were to see it in person its like day and night. Like I said in my 1st post, the bust itself is great....its the paint job that kills it. What I find odd is that SS has a video on their site as the promo for this bust...going on about how amazing it is and "how great the paint job is"......???umm...was he just talking about THAT ONE in the video?

YEP.....:lol

Sounds like you just got a bad one. It happens.

Call SSC. They are very generous when it comes to these things.

As much as I'd love to keep this piece, I REALLLLLY dont want to go through the headache of getting it repainted. I mean I bought it with the understanding it would come to me with a high quality paint job as advertized. Why should "I" now have to go out of my way to find someone to do the job SS should have done in the first place. I'd rather just sell it than have to go through the trouble of returning it. I would want to at least break even on what I've spent so far. Anyone interested....

So you don't want to go through the process of returning a piece for a mint version but you want to go through the process of selling the piece to someone else?

Im sorry you got a less than par paint job on this one. I would try to return it. You will lose money now if you sell yours!

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense!

I cancelled mine and ordered through our Sideshow distributor.

I will pay more since he will take some profit but it is better than having a surprise like this.

hiring a QC specialist shouldn't be more expensive than carrying the burden of complaints, yet alone the return shipping costs /replacement costs

Well....ya.....
I just contacted SS apparently all their return agents are busy. I guess a few other people got their Iron man busts today too...

I think it would be easier to just sell it locally, and having the buyer come pick it up....have cash in my hand and carry on.........Vs..........boxing the thing back up, bringing it to the post office, waiting for it to get there, waiting for my credit card to be refunded or waiting for a replacement. Lets assume I take the "replacement" option...what if the next one they send me is PERFECT, but then gets damaged in shipping. Remember I live in Ontario Canada....lot of room for error from SS to my front door. The box it came in today had 2 huge holes in the side from something that punctured it. THEN....I have to go through the WHOLLEEE return process again. Does this sound like fun to you so far. Allll I wanteddddd wasss my Iron man statue :monkey2
