I finished GTA V 100%, tried Online briefly then gave up on it 2 years ago. A few weeks ago, I bought it on PS4, got to the last mission before starting over to follow a guide to maximize my profits. Then after completing the game, I decided I'm going to complete every activity, only to find that there is a missable random event, Simeon Yetarian. Man, am I pissed off. Now it's either start again and have to do all the tedious stuff I had just completed all over again, or have this one event never completed.
Been thinking about trying Online again but really, I'm old and don't see much appeal with playing games with strangers online.
Yeah, GTAO is definitely the reason why we haven't seen any 'episodes' for this GTA. It's a shame because I absolutely love this game. I struggled to maintain my interest in GTA IV and didn't buy the episodes until long after they were released, and I've yet to complete the lost and even start big gay tony. With GTA V, if they release a new story, I'm 100% in on launch day.
Also, I decided to just restart the game again to get a true 100% completion.
Got this for Christmas and just started playing it. Online is God awful, every race and deathmatch always ends up a fists only fight with "parkour" involved and the races are all just ramps leading off into the air. Maybe I'm just having bad luck to

The fun of online is just doing silly stuff with other people.
The heists are definitely worth teaming up with others to do.
i would avoid games that has online tagged to the 100% completion, because some are just ridiculous. Like killing 100000 human opponents online, or some 1 in 1000 chance to achieve unless in an All Friends only game. I bet the developers just sitting on their chair trying to outsmart each other with crazy achievements and say:"well, them suckers gonna try to achieve them anyway so no harm putting it in".
