As an older guy who spent a good amount of time in management I would like to toss in my two cents that may help you.
The largest thing the younger generation lacks is a solid work ethic. This is a huge advantage for those who actually choose to have one and be a go getter instead of waiting for the next assignment.

Also not trying to be alarming, but I know two kids your age that worked for BB here in Jersey, and they kept them around for close to a year and when they were up for review and a raise they were dismissed. I don't know if its a company wide practice to keep turn over high but just keep it in mind.

I happen to subscribe to your theory. I took on a job at Best Buy a while back. I have never been to college but I work hard. I landed a job in a marketing department with a really good company just by working hard. I am the only one with no college. Work hard and good things will come.
