Curious, after Ridley dragged his feet so much on Alien, why is he revisiting another 30 year old film? Pay check must be very good.

Not sure what to make of this news.

What the, what? Well there is something to be said for the death of originality, we get to re-visit franchises that we once loved and obsessed over. Can't imagine we'll see another philosophical odyssey infused with some gunplay like the original. I'm sure Scott will be pressured into making more of a summer blockbuster.

Totally psyched for Prometheus, but this is interesting... Scott revisiting what many consider to be the greatest science-fiction film of all time? Could go either way, here.

This is hands down my favorite film of all time...Ridley may have signed on to protect his creation and legacy that he created in 1982. I would rather have him at the helm than McG, Brett Ratner, or some other hack. I also think a lot will ride on how the new Alien prequel is received-if I had a choice, I would say leave this film alone-it's one and it is perfect!

All I can say ABOUT TIME Ridley returned to the sci-fi genre. He might be closing out his career in the genre he loves best!!

I posted this on the other thread but I'm betting they will do a prequel. Not sure if that is the way to go, but if they do I hope they do it from the famous quote "attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion", just thinking about that and the image that it conjures up, gives me goosebumps.

And of course, hopefully this will free up any licensing issues, so we can get our hands on some ******* Hot Toys goodness of a Deckard figure and Spinner car.

It's called Blade Runner not Deckard. You can make it about any Blade Runner, and given how great Prometheus looks I'm ok with that.

I just don't want to see anything to do with Deckard. He's "finsihed."

Don't get your hopes up for HT figures, the lack of those isn't related to a current movie. It's because of licensing issues with the people who hold the rights.

I hope this remake will be better than the original because the original is a very mediocre detective movie to me. Sure it has fantastic visuals and decent casting (Harrison Ford to me has never been right for the role. He lacked the charisma of a proper noir lead) but the script is weak.

I am a big Philip K.____ fan and having read "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep", blade runner is a very diluted version with barely anything from the novel left intact in the movie. Having watched the movie and read the novel multiple times, I can tell Scott barely read the novel. More like he just took a few characters and plot from the book and made it into Blade Runner. The original script by Hampton is a much better representation of the theme of the book.

It could have been a very provocative work (all ____'s work are) but Ridley Scott only wants to make a detective sci-fi movie that ends up having none of the charm of a film noir.

Yeah that is great Ridley, if you have some more free time, can you flipping please remaster The Keep and put it on dvd or maybe even better how about blue ray !! I am tired of watching the horrible quality on the VHS release !

Are you referring to Michael Mann's The Keep? Ridley had nothing to do with that film. But I agree, The Keep needs to be released on Blu, but it has licensing issues (like Blade Runner) with the soundtrack by Tangerine Dream.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11:thud::horror

don't get me wrong I like the original movie but the last great hold out is now doing CGI, first aliens being a CGI movie now hes redoing bladerunner. this cannot happen, dear god i'm flashing to the southpark episode where the great movie makers of the 70's and 80's start to rape their movies....................:gah:

Yeah mate thanks, what a blasphamey I just posted towards Mann ! :slap One of my favorites, i did find it on netflicks and the quality was way better then VHS. Read the book if you have not had a chance, it is fantastic ! Blu ray hopefully one day and a remake would be even better ! Yes and tangerine dream, what a hellavu a group.

Like your Avatar, Big trouble in little china is another classic !!

Thanks mate, yeah Big Trouble is one of my fav's.

Haven't read the book, must try it some day. I keep hearing that it is so much better than the film, but then, when is a film better than the source book. One day a blu would be great for this film and hopefully with Mann's cut not the studios.
