Yes, I agree, the classic portrait would have been the logical way to go for both SS and collectors. Since they did not choose the obvious route, I still wanted the intended ex head, goggled and all, as Igo forecast. I mean it's better than nothing at all, and let's face it, it would have been the most unique take on Goblin ever, though not comic accurate. Really curious to see how a great, creative company re-invisioned an iconic character. And find it a pity that they caved to public outcry, rather than follow through with their artistic intent.
As for the goggles themselves(?), I kinda got used to them, and don' t bother me. I own the Rhino comi, and display him with the eared modern version, even though I grew up with the classic portrait. The eared Rhino portrait just looks way more menacing, and I like my baddies looking mean, which this Goblin rendition certainly projects, goggles and all. Besides, Igo did say that if we dug/accept the goggles take, we would love the ex portrait, but now nothing, and that's better?
P.S. Don't forget people, that these are creative/artistic interpretations of fictional, comic characters, nothing more. So chill.
