Can you name a single thing Adam Warlock ever did in the comics that wasn't directly related to Thanos or the Infinity Stones?

I can't. His entire character is entwined in that story. And that story is completely finished in the MCU.

So like I said.....why?

No, because I don't read comics so I don't really care.

They can take him in a different direction, it's called being creative, even if that's something the MCU and Hollywood lack as of late :lol.

Yet people still seem to expect it to be.

Sometimes they do go things, sometimes they don't.
Deviation from the source material is cool but at least do great when you have the chance. They haven't done one great thing since Endgame.

If it's any good it will be because of Gunn, but he's just dealing with the cards that the dealer handed him. Just one of the reasons he's run off to DC. More creative slate, R-Rated, untapped potential.

I’d rather just not set it up for failure already after seeing 3 frames of the character.

I like Gun and the Guardians so I’ll wait and see what he does with this final chapter before getting my pitchfork out.

I, for one, have never forgotten "In the Meantime" by Spacehog. It gets heavy rotation in my playlist.
I was very surprised to hear it, although it sounded like a different version.
My best mate in high school loved that song, which rubbed off on me. I need to re-introduce that song to my playlist.

They finally adapt the absolutely bonkers character that is the High Evolutionary and they give us *drumroll* a guy in a pleather outfit! WOW! Who needs all the crazy comic book concepts and aesthetics when you can just stick all of your palls in awful pleather outfits and call it a day? Seriously, how do you go from this:

To this?

It's literally just a guy. Why are they doing this? Why? Why waste all the cool cosmic stuff? Why are the New Men just American Suburbia but with "wacky animal heads"? Where is the Sci-Fi aspect of it?

This is what Counter Earth is supposed to be like. The High Evolutionary has evolved to a somewhat Abstract status at times. The suit contains him otherwise he'd go boom; that's why it's there. But the MCU ruined everything good about him. No Wundagore, and therefore no Knights. No point to him since his "ideal Earth" is still the same as what we have, instead of a technological paradise where he casually commits mass genocide when his creations aren't perfect. Worst of all, look at him; he's literally a dude in an awful pleather outfit. He bears no resemblance to the High Evolutionary, so at that point why even use him?

Warlock looks awful too. Why are they putting those disgusting pleather outfits and armours on everyone? What is this obsession? Adam's supposed to be a man-made god, a being of science and magic. He's Space Jesus discovering his place in the universe. That's why he was always tied with Thanos and his quest for death. Now we'll get a typical Gunn story of a "dumb baby in an adult's body" who'll break free from his conditioning and go explore the universe and blablabla. Whatever. Warlock should've been a very handsome older guy in his 40s with gravitas. What's next? One of the Stranger Things kids as a quipping Silver Surfer?

They just keep ruining everything I like...

They're not, the stuff you like is still there.
Yeah, just like the Tony Stark I grew up reading didn't turn into a quipping machine who cries every two issues, just like Star Lord didn't go from a Space Veteran to a quipping doofus, just like Doctor Strange didn't go from Vincent Price to a quipster who pukes because he eats tentacles, just lik- I won't go on.

Besides, I don't care about the flicks as adaptations; they were always going to be watered down nonsense for the "general audience". I care that they're ruining the designs completely and I can't buy the dolls and the general merch of characters I've always wanted. When I hear "Adam Warlock" I think "Space Magician", not "Goofy Dude In Tacticool Pleather Outfit". The "High Evolutionary" is literally a guy in a purple pleather lab coat with needless lines. It's embarassing.

Again, not ruining anything, you can still read the comics if you want the comics. This doesn't affect them whatsoever.

I don't like comics, and personally I think most of the designs you show as comparison in these threads look terrible anyway :lol. The High Evolutionary you showed looks like a high tech space gimp.

Well, if The High Evolutionary was given his proper look, then we wouldn't be able to see the diversity & representation from Disney.

Disney is breaking new ground after all. It's amazing how progressive they are... :monkey3

Yawn.

He's a really good actor, and his face is very expressive, it'd be a shame to cover it up tbh.

No offense but, these comic characters have endured BECAUSE of the comic book readers and its fans. You can't say you don't like something when you've never really exposed yourself to it. Most people want to see what they've followed and have been reading for decades on the big screen. A unique take is one thing, but they just do things for different reasons and cost cutting. Not because they think the designs/character is dumb or uninteresting.

Then stop casting good actors. Save some money and cast some new unknown talent. Quentin Tarantino was 100% right in his statement. The actors aren't the stars, the characters are. I'm so tired of every 5 minutes a costumed character needs to remove their face covering so we can see who it is.

While yes, some actors were meant to play the role and brought that character to life (RDJ as Tony Stark/Iron Man) and new Fandom, the majority of actual fans (the ones supporting the media/IP for decades) would rather see the character properly represented than some big name talent being cast. And have an actor recast when needed rather than retiring/killing off the character (*See Black Panther). Imagine if WB felt no one could replace Micheal Keaton as the Iconic Bruce Wayne....

Not really, maybe in the early years, but the MCU is much larger than the comic fanbase ever was now.
You can't say you don't like something when you've never really exposed yourself to it.
I've exposed myself to it enough, I don't enjoy the medium.
Most people want to see what they've followed and have been reading for decades on the big screen.
Why? You just want a 1:1 adaption? Thats a bit stale and cheap imo. Most creators also don't want to sign on and be restricted in such a way.

9/10 MCU castings are perfect, so I'll trust their judgement; and I'll express my disappointment or give praise depending on which way the wind blows. Also there's no way that this is the same High Evolutionary from 616, I doubt he's some bloke from Manchester or even Earth for that matter.

He'd have to be a good Batman/Bruce Wayne for that.

Agreed. Good post. :duff
