I guarantee the final product will have all the depth and humanity of Guillermo's previous projects. This trailer, while I still enjoyed it, was designed to appeal to the summer action crowd. Come opening day, you'll be seeing a lot more heart and drama than what's being previewed here.

i hope so batman..i hope so.

Well then why didn't the trailer to Pacific Rim look half as impressive as the first teaser for The Hobbit then? :dunno

Speak for yourself. The Hobbit trailer wasn't anything special to me either once you past the fact that it's actually finally coming out. Aside from showing giant creatures and stylistic environments, I actually find the Pacific Rim trailer more intriguing because I feel like so much is being kept from me, yet was great to finally see the robots and some flashes of the beasts.

Some movies have great trailers and some don't. I'm just surprised that this one didn't. It doesn't mean the movie will be bad. Avengers had so so trailers and turned out to be awesome. Hopefully that will be the case with Pacific Rim.

If it didn't have GDT's name attached and the trailer instead said "From the director of Tron: Legacy" or "From the director of "Independence Day and 2012" I wouldn't have been the least bit surprised. It just looks extremely generic to me.

The trailer, though not earth shattering awesome to the none kauji fan, to me what it did succeed in and I think what Del Toro wanted to show us, was the scale of the movie. It's giant robots vs giant monsters, and they are giant. I'll disagree about this looking generic though, it looks like a Del Toro movie, especially the yellows he likes to use are all over the trailer, it does in a way, remind of hellboy with the colors he's using here.

To me, Del Toro makes awesome engaging movies. I'm extra excited about this because I know Del Toro's previous films didn't have awesome trailers but the movies themselves have been nothing short of excellent. I know one thing people have complained about that won't change and I can see why they don't like it is that the giant monsters and robots themselves move so slow. Del Toro said this at comic con, the things wont move fast, their going to move like they weigh a million tons, not like ninjas and the first thing I thought of when I heard this was this game

and the pace of the movements seems pretty close and I'm ok with that. It's something that on the surface may look boring, but once you sink your teeth into it, it's hard not to enjoy it.

Looking at the blueprints one of the robots only has one pilot, I thought they said they needed 2 pilots otherwise their brain would melt (yeah I'm exaggerating but whatever). How can this work? Or might this be their showing of what happens when a Jaeger only has one pilot like GDT said at Comic-Con?

The hell is that fluid stuff that drains from the helmets? Crazy stuff neuroscience...

Director Rian Johnson just tweeted the following about Pacific Rim. He was invited to a early screening and the movie still has FX shots to be completed.

"Go into Pacific Rim prepared to be transmogrified into a 12 year old. And then to pee your pants with joy. I love it so much."

"FX aren't done yet, but the ones that are are gorgeous"
