That is an excellent comparison and serves to reiterate what I have come to accept as the pros and cons of each weapon based on the information I have gathered over time.

The only thing it does not touch on is stoppages due to battlefield conditions as they relate to making the weapon dirty.

But I think that the video gives a fairly clear picture of why the AK works better when it is dirty than the AR in that the sheer power of the action of the AK that is required for moving the weight of the heavier parts would be more likely to power over more grit than the action of the AR.

One thing I did learn, though, is that even though I knew the AR to be more accurate, I didn't realize the extremety of that issue. I understand that the AK is really meant for closer-range fighting. But 1 out of 5 shots barely on paper, not to mention not in the kill zone, at 200 yards is pathetic. Marines are trained with the AR at 500 meters (540 yards) and are expected to hit a man-sized target with every shot. No, they do not always hit at that distance, and it is slower fire than they used in the video, but I know that I hit 10 of 10 shots on the silhouette and usually had 7 or 8, sometimes more, in the 5-point ring (bulls-eye) at that distance.

I just ordered an Eotech for my M4. I'm seriously broke, at this point... As much as I hate to do it, I'm probably going to be canceling everything I've got preordered from Sideshow. I'll be buying cases of ammunition, instead.

Well, then allow me to take the opportunity to enlighten you.

Being knowledgable about firearms does not make a person a psychopath. Nor does levity about the issue.

Now, being armed with that knowledge should help you to overcome this terror you feel toward people who enjoy firearms.

No thanks necessary!:D

Here's a little project I've been working on... AR-15 with walnut...

DPMS 16" Lite (w/ 40 RD Magazine)
RRA Wood Set (some finishing work on my end)

OK, so i've narrowed it down to 4 calibers that i'll be primarily investing in.

for pistols:
9mm (mainly for plinking/range/target shooting)
45ACP (primary pistol caliber for home defense)

for rifles:
223/556 (plinking/SHTF)
308/762 (SHTF)

other calibers that i have but are for occasional recreational use at the range: 5.7, 10mm, .454 Casull, and .460 S&W.

oops, almost forgot shotgun round, 00 Buckshot. that'll be the last firearm i purchase.. famous last words? :D

We stockpile .45's for the 1911's and 5.56's for the assault rifles. I also like to keep a good number of .38's because even forty years into the zombie apocalypse, most snub-nosed revolvers will work flawlessly.

My next gun will probably be a shotgun. Something short. This, maybe? Or this?

I'm going to pick up another .22 because sports authority has a sale for the Marlin 795 I wanted for only $95 after $20 mail in rebate.

AngryEwok, i like the first shotgun you pointed out. is that fitted with a Knoxx buttstock? looks like an adjustable one.
