This is my all time favorite horror movie. I saw it in theatres this past halloween. Truly amazing. So simple. No gore. Nothing like the horror movies of today. That movie did SO MUCH with so little. A true classic.

Yeah, nicely put.

It's a classic alright. The way Carpenter lets Myers unfold unnervingly, & puts in that feeling of something inexplicable / supernatural is pretty genius stuff. I've always loved Jamie Lee Curtis as an actress too, & she was awesome in this film. The perfect blend of innocent / naive & strong heroine.

I just love that era - period. The 70s have always been my fave decade, but wow - what a decade for some memorable films!! :rock

:lecture This is what makes it scary to me. I'm beginning to loathe the "shock-horror" movies that we keep getting. The original Saw was great because it was the first, and I don't recall seeing anything like it until then. Now, it seems everything has to take gore and screams to the absolute extreme.

:goodpost: Halloween is not only my favorite horror movie, it is my 5th favorite movie of all time. Carpenter's score was brilliant and really is a just as much a characters a Michael Myers. I can stand RZ's remake of the first movie but I hated how he tried to humanize Michael by turning him into you stereotypical sociopathic child from a broken home and the rape scene in the unrated version was just there for cheap shock value.

I love the first Saw. It felt more along the lines of Se7en and not a straight up horror movie. It wasn't till Saw 2 that it really became "torture porn".

The original Saw was epic! I could live without the numerous sequels!

:lecture I did enjoy Saw 2 until they made the one chick his apprentice at the end. Saw 3 was cool and I think it really should have ended there. Didn't care for Saw 4 and I haven't even bothered with 5 and 6. I did see the last one and didn't care for it either. Jigsaw honestly has more apprentices than The Emperor.

Halloween is one of my all-time favorite films. I've watched it countless times, but it never gets old. Michael Myers will always be the ultimate boogeyman, IMO.
