Re: Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition Remastered- List in First Post!!!

I don't see my name on there ? I'm sure that I posted that I was interested and would love to see it ? If its not possible I'm okay with that and I'll try somewhere else.

I've added you. I apologize if I missed you, I've been trying to keep up.

Re: Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition Remastered- List in First Post!!!

For those burning the upcoming release, Harmy has confirmed it will still be a BD25.

Re: Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition Remastered- List in First Post!!!

Glad I asked that question ! Now we know !

Re: Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition Remastered- List in First Post!!!

Good news.

Wonder when he decided to lower the bitrate...he was saying in April that it would be higher. Weird.

Now some are pushing him to make a 50GB at the higher bitrate. Not sure it will help. But we will see.

Dropped 1GB. Wonder what happened.

If anything I might just remux using 2.5 HD audio and the 2.0 video.

Re: Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition Remastered- List in First Post!!!

I'm not sure if you are referring to me, but I only have labels for the discs.

I sent them to jimjimmyjones85. I probably still have the files in my outbox if you need em too, or he can pass em along.

Re: Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition Remastered- List in First Post!!!

Hopefully Harmy keeps these at 25gb to make things a little easier on those burning the discs for all of us. :wink1:

Re: Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition Remastered- List in First Post!!!

I think the difference is, at 25Gb, we are watching a 720P transfer.
The 50Gb is the 1080P, unless I'm mistaken.

Re: Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition Remastered- List in First Post!!!

Looks like I need to upgrade. Can I please be added to the list?

Re: Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition Remastered- List in First Post!!!

Not advocating either or but since this is probably the definite version to have until a mythical official bluray comes out, wouldn't we rather have it in 50GB even if it takes a longer time to get to us?
I honestly don't care if the ones burning take their time, no burnout, as long as we get the best version possible. No?

Also what's the plan for cases? Are you guys sending the basic blurays in a sleeve or are you doing a print on them and a nice cover art that we saw earlier?

I found SW and ESB, did you send ROTJ ?

There will be no 1080p version of Harmy's Version.

With the encode the way it is currently set it is going to be lossless sound. Any increase in bitcode will not help. As it stands we are looking at TrueHD sound.

Doesn't sound like it will happen but it'd be nice... not to advocate for one or the other either;)

All I sent was the disc label for EP IV. As well as a label for another project of yours. :)

Crap. Can you resend it bro. I found the demo disc I printed to test it but can't find the file now :(

Yeah, it's the source unfortunately. They don't have a clean enough source to work from that will warrant the increased file size for the small visual gain (80/20 rule). At this point, a 4K scan would be more ideal to hardcore visual enthusiasts. When that happens is anyone's guess.

As far as what physical materials we'll include with this run, jjj and I are discussing it. Leaning towards the minimal, and allow individuals to create their own BR covers and labels.

Re: Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition Remastered- List in First Post!!!

Harmy emphatically stated over at OT that there will not be a 50gb disc as there's simply no need for it. He said everything will fit fine on a 25gb disc with no loss in quality.

Re: Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition Remastered- List in First Post!!!

This is what he said:

I am absolutely not doing a BD50 - just logistically, it would be a nightmare, not to mention, it is unnecessary - the reason I decided to make the bit-rate smaller was that the bit-rate of the v2.0 mkv was overkill considering we're talking 720p from a compressed source - seriously, the encode looks pretty much identical to the lossless source file - making the bit-rate any higher would just be wasting space IMHO.

Harmy's 720 transfer is more than awesome unless you are projecting this on an 80 inch + screen.
