My kids, especially my daughter, grew up with Harry Potter. I have to ask them how they feel about this reboot. Seems way too soon for me...
How involved is Rowling with this?

I’m still baffled they want to do Harry Potter again when the first films are still timeless and amazing. Gosh WB sucks ass

I think it is funny because I've seen so many comments by book fans wanting a much closer adaptation to the books. I knew they would race swap several characters because that is what tv is like today. I don't know why some fans didn't expect it.

This actor is closer to the age Snape is in the books, so they have that right. He's too good looking though. He'll have to wear prosthetics to change his looks I think.

lol never gonna happen.

Really not sure about that potential Snape casting. Granted they have an uphill battle replacing Rickman. Their potential Dumbledore seems an improvement over Gambon at least but not sure if better than Harris.

The professors were such British legends that replacing any is going to be hard. And committing to 7+ years/seasons will also be a challenge to get good actors locked into that commitment. I fear this will be an Amazon Rings of Power failure after the epic movies we got.

That being said, you know this will be full of race/sexuality swapping.

Imagine casting anyone besides Adam Driver as Snape.

He has the look, he's an incredible actor, he can handle a big franchise and what comes with it.

Even if he doesn't want the job, find the money to make him want the job. He would be perfect. There was no reason for them to remake this story as the films are great, but nailing castings and leaving no doubt like Driver would be for Snape would certainly help get me interested. Oh well.

An argument could be made that since the movies and their cast were so on point - at least so I might be lead to understand, I'm not personally a Harry Potter fan - then that is precisely the reason to do something different with it this time out. Why simply repeat the same thing again and have all the characters portrayed the same. Their go-to of course is always ''put a black chick in it and make her gay''. If that's all they have they might be in trouble but there isn't anything wrong with it if there's actually more story worth telling. Did the movies leave anything out from the books that could make this endeavor worthwhile to more people than just identity politics box tickers?

I just heard that they just want a British casting no matter what so then he wouldn't fit.
( but yes he's perfect. literally perfect.)

the books left a lot of stuff out and entire characters out. one thing I keep hearing about was how Hermione doesn't like the house elves being like forced servants to wizards and how

Hermione believes they deserve better treatment, she tries improving the lives of house elves, but the house elves see their servant role as a duty and an honor, and find Hermione's efforts to free them insulting and embarrassing.

that part alone is something I wish I could see in the show.
there's also other stuff with Voldemort and the back story. it's interesting that she wants to help them but they don't appreciate it.

yes there is definitely a bunch of subplots and things left out.

Rowling made Hermione an SJW...I never saw that coming. :lol
BUT .......but the elves are annoyed at her and then no one in the school really liked her except Ron and Harry and Neville. the movies kind of touch up on that, but the show could push that further, but it would make Hermione a little unlikable
it's like that robot in the Solo movie that people didn't like.

so the show should make Hermione more complex and interesting, but they might have trouble doing that
